Tips for creating Flash projects
Keep the following tips in mind as you plan your projects for interactive viewing on the web:
1. You can create web links that go to other areas in your website when a viewer clicks a button in the Flash project,
or when a timeline or motion menu reaches the end of playing.
2. You can use high-definition and standard-definition assets in your Flash projects.
3. Flash does not have all of the features that DVDs have, such as displaying subtitles or playing from multiple audio
tracks in a timeline.
4. Adobe Flash Player ignores the Default Button setting in the Menu Properties panel. Consequently, buttons set to
appear highlighted by default will not do so in your Flash projects. Also, Flash has no keyboard navigation, so
viewers can’t use Enter or arrow keys to select a button.
5. Timelines in Flash projects use separate media for each chapter, so a pause occurs between chapters. The pause is
similar to a layer break on dual-layer DVDs.

Embed web links in your Flash project
You can use a menu element to create a link from your Flash project to an external URL on the web. To do this, enter
ataginthemenu’sDescriptionfield.Whenviewersclickabuttonthatgoestothatmenuelement,insteadofseeing
a menu display, they see the web page of the specified URL.
Note: Unless you set up privileges in Flash Player, the URL must be in the same domain as your Flash project.
1 Create a menu, and create a button or end action that links to that menu from another menu or timeline in the
project.
To use the same project for a DVD or Blu-ray Disc, the new menu should display something when a viewer clicks on
the button from a TV disc player, such as information about additional ROM content on the disc.
2 Select the new menu (in the Project panel or the Menus panel), and in the Properties panel, enter the following
tag in the Description field:

where “http://www.adobe.com” is your own URL. (Relative URLs also work in the tag description.) Make sure that
you also type the quotation marks around the URL, which can be either double quotation marks (") or single
apostrophe marks (').
Note: When you export a project to Flash format, Encore ignores any web link tags that are not in the Menu Properties
Description field.
