With the increasing demand for mobile applications more and more different devices and Mobile Operating
Systems emerge. Fortunately there are various (open source) toolkits available that optimise rich internet
applications automatically for the device / mobile operating system used. The goal is to have the best of both
worlds, e.g. the optimised user experience from a native application, while having the flexibility of a rich
internet application.
These toolkits consist out of JavaScript & css files and by using them developers just have to build one
application (pages) for multiple devices. Some of these toolkits are even so good, that they provide easy
interfaces to complex features.
Adyen also uses toolkits for it's MPP. Merchants using the Adyen platform can easily configure a Skin to use
this toolkit and thus payment pages optimised for Mobile applications. The current default toolkit Adyen is
using results in payment pages optimised for the iPhone and Android platform.
At this moment Adyen is by default using the open source http://webapp-net.com/ toolkit when
“iPhone/Android (for modern WebKit-based mobile browsers)” is selected as option. This will be extended
soon with other toolkits such as http://jquerymobile.com/. This will also add support for BlackBerry and
Windows phones.
A very simple HTML payment page is also available for older mobile phones. This can just be used by selecting
this option in the drop-down box and again redirecting the shopper to select.shtml.
