When the amplifier is turned on the display shows:
Before using y our D A VE, you m ust set cer tain parameter s for it on
the menus in ‘Set up mode’. Y ou can enter this mode using either
the Remote Control or the front panel.
USING THE REMO TE CONTROL
The CR9000 must be in AUDIO mode to control the unit.
Press to enter AUDIO mode .
Press follow ed within 2 seconds by .

Hold down the MODE button and whilst still holding it do wn
press the CONFIRM button. Y ou will see ‘Misc <P A GE>’.
Either method will bring up a menu on the On Screen Display
(OSD) on the TV monitor connected to y our D A VE module.
At the same time , the same title or selected line from the menu
will show in the displa y on the front panel.
There are 5 menus, each has up to 7 options.
The selected menu will be appear on y our 'On Screen Display' on
your TV monitor . The selected line of the menu will also be
display ed on the front panel display of the D A VE.
Each of the following sections star ts with a picture showing what
you will see as y ou mov e through the menus.
USING THE REMO TE CONTROL
Use [P AUSE] and [ST OP] buttons to go up/down the
menu, [REW] and [FF] buttons to alter the selection on the
highlighted line , and to change menu pages when the menu
heading is highlighted.
USING THE FR ONT P ANEL
When 'Misc <P A GE>' is sho wing move through the 5 men u
headings using the V OLUME control.
T o cycle through the items on a menu, press the CONTROL
button one, two , three or more times. T o select a choice rotate the
volume control one click at a time to cycle through the a vailable
choices. After you ha ve cycled through each of the items on a
menu, retur n to <P AGE> using the CONTR OL button, then you
can then use the V OLUME control to mo ve onto other menus.
Menu page 1/5 - Miscellaneous
ON SCREEN DISPLA Y ON/OFF
Default is on. If you choose 'off' the on screen display (OSD) will
go off once you ha ve sa ved the settings and will not sho w when
you adjust v olume , change inputs, etc , unless you go back to the
setup menu screen again.
N.B.
T o turn the OSD on again you ha ve to go back into setup menu
and reselect 'On Screen Display On'.
DECODE MODE
Auto - Automatically selects the digital source if present.
Analogue - Allo ws selection of analogue sources only .
Digital - Allows selection of digital sources only .
Auto mode is recommended.
MEASUREMENTS - IMPERIAL/METRIC
Choose your pref erred unit of measure for the distance of speaker s
from your sitting position adjusted on men u page 3/5 (delay setup).
COLOUR OSD
With OSD on the background screen for the OSD on the TV will
be blue. With OSD off the background will be grey . This latter
mode may be better in some countries that use non mainstream
video standards.

Choose between large , small or not present. Where applicable this
information is used in Dolby Digital decoding to redirect bass
signals to speaker s that can handle them.
If you choose ‘Not present’ for a speaker then you will not be
given the option to set dela y times for these speaker s on menu
page 3/5.
Menu page 3/5 - Dela y Setup
Select each speaker in turn and then enter the distance from the
speaker to y our nor mal sitting position. This range is adjustable
from 0-25 feet in 1 foot steps (0-7m in 0.3m steps).
DELA YS
Y our D A VE automatically adjusts the channel delay times to
achieve 'coincident arr ival' of sound from the speakers when you
hav e entered the distance from your listening position to each of
your speak er s.

TEST T ONE ON/OFF
Tur n the test noise on to cycle through the speakers and adjust
the relative lev els of them. The noise will continue to cycle until
turned off. Use the trim to adjust for an equal level of noise from
each speaker at the listening position.
The trim levels are relative to the volume of the left and right front
speaker s so if y ou increase/ decrease the volume using the volume
up or down buttons on the remote or the front panel
volume knob , the centre , rear and subwoofer levels will also change
accordingly .
T o adjust the lev el of the centre , rear and sub (A V and stereo) use
the [REW] button to move the sound left and [FF] button to
mov e the sound right.
The test noise will stay on the selected speaker whilst y ou are
making adjustments and then go onto the next speaker after a few
seconds.
Subwoof er
There is only one subwoof er pre-amp out on the D A VE b ut it is
possible to ha ve one v olume setting for home cinema use (A V)
and another for when listening in stereo mode.
T o adjust the sub (A V and stereo) use the [REW] button to
mov e the sound left and [FF] button to move the sound right.
Y ou can turn the stereo sub output off by turning the level fully
down until OFF is sho wn on the display .

Menu page 5/5 - Digital Input Setup
The D A VE module has 4 digital inputs (2 x optical, 2 x coaxial).
Each of these can be allocated to one of 6 inputs D VD/A V/A UXI-
CD/TUNER/VCR or Not Connected. Each digital input can only be
allocated to one input e .g. if you chose Optical 1 to be for D VD
the choices for Optical 2 are now onl y A V/AUX/CD/TUNER/VCR
or not connected, etc . If you wish to re-allocate D VD to another
input you m ust first change Optical 1 to another source , e .g. AUX,
before y ou can allocate D VD to a different input.
USING THE REMO TE CONTROL
Press the button any time.
USING THE FR ONT P ANEL CONTROLS
Press the front panel CONFIRM button at anytime from an y menu.
Both the OSD and front panel display will then sho w 'Settings
Sav ed' for a couple of seconds to conf ir m this.
Y our unit no w has the settings stored in memor y as 'Fa vourite
Settings'. Y ou can choose to trim the centre and surround levels to
suit a par ticular mo vie , then restore the stored settings at any time
by pressing F A V REST ORE on the remote.
