5. Do not modify, x any part, or alter child carrier or bike.
Contact Customer Service if you are not sure whether your
bicycle is compatible with your child carrier or if you have
questions or concerns about any parts or components.
6. Do not operate a bicycle with a child carrier attached without
rst reading and understanding this manual. If you have any
questions, contact our Customer Service.
7. Do not use on any bicycle with rear suspension, bicycles
that have a suspension seat post or with frames that are
square, triangular or carbon ber.
8. Do not leave the child unattended in the child carrier.
9. Both cyclist and child must wear approved bicycle helmets.
10. Children must be old enough to wear an approved bicycle
helmet and to sit upright without assistance. If your child is
too small to properly wear the smallest size approved helmet,
he/she should not ride in the carrier. Some states have
mandatory helmet requirements and minimum age limits
for children riding in child carriers. Consult your pediatrician
before riding with any child.
11. Do not exceed the maximum carrier load of 40 lbs for child,
pack and contents. The load of a child carrier may lessen the
stability and maneuverability and alter the riding characteristics
of the bicycle, particularly regarding steering and braking.
Check child’s weight periodically that they have not exceeded
the weight capacity.
12. Always fasten harness securely around child. Periodically
check placement of harness, especially for a sleeping child.
Do not allow any of the child’s body, clothing, shoelaces or
toys to come in contact with moving parts of the bicycle, as
this can lead to entrapments and cause injury or death to
both the rider and the child.
13. Instruct your child not to bounce, rock or lean. Sudden
shifting of weight can lead to serious injury or death to you
and your passenger.
14. Presence of a child carrier on a bicycle may require alteration of
the method used by the rider to mount or dismount the bicycle,
as well as reduce the movability of the handlebar. Care must be
taken whenever the rider gets on or off the bicycle. It is
recommended that a change to the handlebar is made if the
reduced angle of steering to each side is less than 45 degrees.
15. Cyclist must be an experienced, strong rider weighing
100 pounds or more.
16. Do not use a kickstand or other parking device to support the
bicycle with a child carrier attached. Attaching a child carrier can
change the balance of the bicycle making kickstands ineffective.
The bicycle can fall over, damaging it and the child carrier.
17. Do not transport bicycle on an automobile with the child
carrier attached. The force of the high wind on the carrier
may degrade or damage the carrier to the point that it will
not perform reliably.
18. Avoid riding at night. Your ability to see and to be seen is
greatly reduced. If you must ride at night, use proper lighting
and reectors on your bike and wear reective clothing.
19. Never ride in inclement or hazardous conditions. Children
should be properly clothed to be protected from the elements.
Check the temperature of the child carrier before placing child
in it to make sure carrier is not too hot.
20. Never install both a rear child carrier and a front child carrier
on a single bicycle.
21. Do not mount anything else to the carrier rack except for the
Bell child carrier.
22. When no child is being carried, fasten the retention system
buckles so the straps do not hang loosely and potentially
become trapped in any moving parts of the bicycle.
23. Before each ride, ensure the mounted carrier does not interfere
with braking, pedaling, or steering of the bicycle.
24. A rear reector that complies with CPSC regulations must be
visible whether the carrier is on the bicycle or not.
25. Tighten fasteners securely and check them frequently.
26. Always check any local laws specic to carrying of children
in carriers attached to cycles before riding.
27. Do not use the child carrier if any part is broken.
