 The user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring

to other people or their property.

 Do not operate the hedgecutter when barefoot or wearing

open sandals, always wear substantial footwear and long

trousers. The use of sturdy gloves, non-skid footwear and

safety glasses is recommended. Do not wear loose cloth-

ing or jewellery which can be caught in moving parts.

 Thoroughly inspect the area where the hedge trimmer is to

be used and remove all wires and other foreign objects.

 Prior to operation, check cutter blades, blade bolts and

cutter assembly for wear or damage. Do not operate with a

damaged or excessively worn cutting device.

 Check cable for damage before starting work and replace if

necessary. Keep cable away from heat, oil and sharp edges.

 Know how to stop the hedge trimmer quickly in an emer-

gency.

 Cut a hedge only in daylight or in good artificial light.

 Never operate the hedgecutter with defective guards or

without the guard in place.

 Always ensure all handles and guards supplied are fitted

when using the hedgecutter. Never attempt to use an in-

complete hedgecutter or one with an unauthorised modifi-

cation.

 Never hold the hedgecutter by the guard.

 While operating the hedgecutter always be sure of a safe

and secure operating position at all times, especially when

using steps or a ladder.

 Always be aware of your surroundings and stay alert for

possible hazards that you may not hear whilst operating

the hedgecutter.

 Remove the plug from the socket:

– before checking, clearing a blockage or working on the

hedgecutter.

– after striking a foreign object, inspect the hedgecutter

for damage and make repairs as necessary.

– if the hedgecutter starts to vibrate abnormally check

immediately.

 Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to ensure that the

hedgecutter is always in a safe working condition.

 The hedgecutter should be stored in a dry, high or locked

up place out of the reach of children.

 Replace worn or damaged parts for safety.

 Do not attempt to repair the machine unless you are quali-

fied to do so.

 Ensure replacement parts fitted are Bosch-approved.

 To safeguard against contact with the moving cutter blade,

this hedge trimmer is constructed with two handles each

with a blade control (switch). To operate the hedge cutter,

both controls must be actuated simultaneously. Do not

use the tool, if it runs without a switch being actuated

or just one switch being actuated.

Electrical Safety

 Warning! Switch off, remove plug from mains before

adjusting, cleaning or if cable is cut, damaged or entan-

gled.

 The blades continue to move for a few seconds after

the hedgecutter is switched off. Caution! Do not touch

the moving blades.

Your machine is double insulated for safety and requires no

earth connection. The operating voltage is 230 V AC, 50 Hz

(for non-EU countries 220 V, 240 V as applicable). Only use

approved extension cables. Contact your Bosch Service Cen-

tre for details.

Extension cords should only be used if they comply with

H05VV-F or H05RN-F types.

It is recommended for increased electrical safety to use a Resid-

ual Current Device (RCD) with a tripping current of not more

than 30 mA. Always check your RCD every time you use it.

Refer to the instruction manual of the extension cord, lead,

reel manufacturer and your local wiring regulations.

For products not sold in GB:

WARNING: For your safety, it is required that the plug at-

tached to the product is connected with the extension cord.

The coupling of the extension cord must be protected against

splash water, be made of rubber or coated with rubber. The

extension cord must be used with a cable strain relief.

The connection lead must be inspected for signs of damage at

regular intervals and may only be used if in perfect condition.

If the supply cable on the product is damaged, it must only be

replaced by a Bosch Service Centre.

Products sold in GB only: Your product is fitted with a

BS 1363/A approved electric plug with internal fuse (ASTA

approved to BS 1362).

If the plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be

cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its place by an author-

ised customer service agent. The replacement plug should

have the same fuse rating as the original plug.

The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a possible

shock hazard and should never be inserted into a mains sock-

et elsewhere.

Products sold in AUS and NZ only: Use a residual current de-

vice (RCD) with a rated residual current of 30 mA or less.

Maintenance

 Always wear gardening gloves when handling or working

near the sharp blades.

 Examine the machine and replace worn or damaged parts

for safety.

 Always lubricate the cutting blade with protective spray

before storage.

 Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure that the ma-

chine is in safe working condition.

 Ensure replacement parts fitted are Bosch-approved.
