Do not overreach when operating this tool.

Always turn o the air supply and
disconnect the air supply hose before
installing, removing or adjusting any
accessory on this tool, or before
performing any maintenance on this tool.

Use protective equipment such as
glasses, gloves, safety shoes as well
as acoustic protection. Remain vigilant,
use common sense and pay attention
when using the machine.
•
Always wear suitable CE marked
eye protection when operating or
performing maintenance on this tool.
•
Operate at no more than the tool’s
maximum pressure stated in column “I”
of the technical data table.
•
Do not over-oil and do not use heavy
grade oil as stalling and low
performance may result.
This tool is intended to be used for stapling cardboard,
foam padding and soft materials used in assembly of beds
or similar products. DO NOT USE for fastening harder
materials which could cause buckling of the staples and
damage to the tool. If you are unsure of the suitability of
this tool for certain applications, please contact your local
sales oce.
m CAUTION! Keep hands and fingers away from the jaw
of the tool at all times especially when tool is connected
to an air source as the jaw could move and/or a fastener
could be ejected unexpectedly, which could cause injury
to yourself or others in the work area.
LOADING THE TOOL
1. Disengage the latch and pull back magazine side. (Fig. 1)
2. With magazine fully open, insert fasteners. Points must
be against bottom of magazine. (Fig. 2)
3. Push magazine forward. (Fig. 3)
4. Continue pushing until latch is engaged.
Note: Use only fasteners recommended by Bostitch
for use in Bostitch tools or fasteners that meet
Bostitch specifications.
LOADING THE TOOL FOR 10MM STAPLES
(P51-5B-E / P51-10B-E)
These tools require a dierent shuttle to be fitted for use
with 10mm length staples. Repairs shall only be carried out
by the authorised agents of Bostitch or by other experts,
giving due regard to the safety, operating and maintenance
instructions in this manual and tool technical data.
1. Remove cap and piston head bumper.
2. Disconnect magazine and pull to rear.
3. Pull out cylinder assembly.
4. Remove driver and guide screws.
CLEARING JAMS
Do not attempt to clear jammed staples by firing the tool
to clear jam:
1. Disconnect air supply.
2. Pull back top guide assembly and staples.
3. Pull down shuttle.
4. Remove jammed staple either from opening
at the rear of shuttle or from drive track behind
the magazine assembly.
To clear jam caused by tumbled staple or if jam can not be
cleared as outlined above:
1. Be sure air supply is disconnected and top guide is
pulled back.
2. Remove staples.
