Introduction
With your PT-129 0, you can create lab els for any
application. Select from th e many frames , character sizes,
widths and styles to design beautiful custom labels. In
addition, the variety of tape cartridges available allows you
to print labels wi th different widths and exciting colours.
Read this manu al carefully before star ting and keep the
manual in a h andy place for future refe rence.
Safety Precautions
Warn ing
Follow these gu idelines to avoid fi re, burn, injury,
electric sho ck, rupture, he at, abnorm al odour and
smoki ng.
• Always use the speci fied voltage and the sugg ested AC adapter
(AD-24ES) fo r this machine to prevent a ny damage or fa ilure.
• Unplug the ad apter cord immediately an d stop using th e P-touch
during an e lectrical st orm.
• Do not use th e machine/AC adapter i n places of h igh humidity su ch
as bathrooms.
• Do not overloa d the adap ter cord.
• Do not place heavy object s on, or damage th e adapter cor d or plug .
Do not forcibly b end or pull th e adapter cord. When disco nnecting
the adapter cor d from the pow er outlet, always hold the p lug.
• Make sure that the plug is fully inserted in the power outlet. Do not
use an outlet that is loose.
• Do not swallow the cutter stopper .
• Do not get th e machine/AC adap ter/adapte r plug wet, such as by
handling them with wet h ands or spilling liquids on to them .
• Do not disassem ble or modify the P-touch/AC adapter/batter ies.
• Do not use metallic object s, such as tweezer s or a metallic pen,
when changing the batterie s.
• Do not throw t he batteries into fire or expose t o heat.
• Disconnect th e AC adapter, remove ba tteries immediat ely and stop
using the ma chine if you notic e abnormal odour, hea t,
discolouration, deformatio n or anything unusual whil e using or
storing it.
Cauti on
Follow these gu idelines to avoid pers onal injury,
battery l eakage, bu rn and heat.
• Do not touch the cutter blad e or any metal parts near the print head.
• Remove the ba tteries and discon nect the AC adapter if you do not
intend to use the P-touch for an extended per iod of ti me.
• Do not use o ld and new ba tteries toget her or m ix alkaline batteries
with other typ e batteries, or set the p ositive and neg ative end i n the
wrong position.
• Do not drop or hit the P-to uch/AC ada pter.
• Do not press h ard on the LC D display.
• Make sure you do not trap you r fingers whe n closing the casse tte
cover.
General Precautio ns
• Depending on the location, material , and en vironmental conditions,
the label m ay unpeel or become i rremovable , the colour of the lab el
may change or be transferr ed to other objects. B efore applying the
label, check the environment al condition and the mater ial.
• Do not use the P-touch in any way o r for any p urpose not descri bed
in this guide. Doi ng so may resu lt in accide nts or damage to the
machine.
• Use Brother T Ze tapes with this machine.
• Only use a soft, dry cloth to clean the machine; neve r use alcohol
or other orga nic solvents.
• Use a cotton swab to clean the p rint head; n ever touch the pr int
head.
• Do not put any foreign objects into the tape exit sl ot or AC adapter
connector, etc.
• Do not place th e P-touch/batte ry/adapter in direct sunli ght or rain,
near heaters or other ho t appliances, in a ny location exposed to
extremely hig h or low te mperatures (e .g. on the dashboar d or in the
back of your car) , high humidi ty, or du sty locations.
• Do not apply exce ssive pressure to the cutter lever .
• Do not try to print if the cassette is empty; it will da mage the print
head.
• Do not pull the tape while printing or feeding; it will damage the tape
and machine.
• Any data stored in memory will be lost due to failu re or repair of the
P-touch, or if t he battery e xpires and no adapter is co nnected.
• When power is disconne cted for more than three minutes, al l texts
settings and any text f iles stored in the mem ory will be cleared.

Power Supply and Tape Cassette
Open the cas sette cover by pressin g the
indicated area at t he back of the machine.
If a ta pe cass ette is already installe d, remov e it b y
pulling it straig ht up. Also, if batte ries are al ready
installed, remove them.
• Make s ure that the power i s turned o ff when
replacing ba tteries o r tape cassette s.
Insert six new AAA alk aline batte ries
(LR03), making sur e that thei r poles
point in the correct direction s. Always
replace all si x batteries at the same time
using br and new ones of th e same type.
Insert a ta pe cassette , making sure that
it snaps into place.
• Make sure tha t the end of t he tape fe eds under
the tape gu ides.
• If the i nk ribbon is l oose, use you r finge r to wind
the toothed wheel i n the direct ion of t he arrow
on the cassette .
• Use Brother TZe t apes with thi s machine.
Securely close the ca ssette cover, ma king
sure tha t it snaps into place.
After you have inst alled t he tape, press +
to feed th e tape once a nd the n push in th e tape cut ter
lever to cut t he tape.

When using op tional AC adapte r (AD-24ES)
1. Insert the small plug on the adapter cor d into the AC
adapter socket on th e top end of the mach ine.
2. Inse rt th e power p lug i nto the neare st st andar d ele ctric al
outlet .
For memory back up, we recomm end using AAA alkaline
batteri es (LR03 ) toget her when us ing the AC adapte r.

Initial Settings
1 Start your mach ine.
Supply pow er by using six AAA alkaline batteries (LR0 3)
or the option al AC adapter, and the n press .
2 Set the la nguage.
The default setting is [English].

• You tried to print a te xt file when ther e is no
data stored i n the memory.
• is pressed when no text is ente red.
• You tried to selec t [Copies], [Numbe ring],
[Mirror], or T ext Preview when no text is
entered.
Line Limit!
• You tried to en ter a 3rd line by pressing

• You tried to print a 2 line text with 3.5m m or
6mm tape in stalled.
No Cassette!
You tried to print a label with no casse tte
installed.
Cutter Error!
The tape cutter lever was used while printing.
Full!
The maximum number o f characters (80

Cooling
If the print hea d becomes to o hot, your
machine will stop printing and automatically
start to cool down. The cool down time will be
displayed. Once the print he ad is cool, printing
will automatically continue.
Do not touch the P -touch while cooling.
