The number of new calls to the handset is shown on the standby screen and will r emain
until all calls have been viewed in the calls list.

The answer machine handset controls on buttons
and will only
work when a message is being played on the handset.

Most problems can be fixed with a f ew simple checks.
Problem Solution
No dial tone Only use the cables and batteries supplied.
Make sur e both the mains power adaptor cable and
telephone line cord ar e plugged into the correct sock ets.
Poor speech quality Make sur e the product is not located t oo close to other
electrical appliances. This can also help improve the
handset range fr om the base.
Battery icon flashing
and scr olling digits
The battery charge is ver y low . Mak e sure you charge the
batteries for 24 hours bef ore use t o ensure maximum
battery per formance.
Using br oadband on the same
phone line?
Make sur e you plug the phone
into the wall socket via an ADSL
microfilter (not supplied), otherwise
you may have problems with this
product and your br oadband ser vice.
If you use B T Infinity , you will not need t o use an ADSL micr ofilter .
For other types of br oadband, please check with your
provider if a microfilt er is r equired.

answering calls
Check the answer machine is on and set to Answer &
Recor d. Check that the answer delay is set to answer
befor e any voicemail ser vice on the line. For B T 1571 do
not set the answer delay to more than 6 rings.
