Answering machine
After following the Getting star ted section, your B T Domus answering machine will be set
to ‘ Answer and Record’ and is r eady to star t receiving messages.
Y ou can select one of the pre-recor ded outgoing messages – Answ er & Recor d or Answer
Only or you can r ecord your own personalised outgoing message. Y ou can also record m emo
messages f or other users, screen calls and you can operat e the answering machine remo tely .
All answering machine feat ures are accessed via the handset menu. See the Answer
Machine menu shown in Section 2. For detailed instructions on all the answering machine

Switch answering machine on/ off
When the answering machine is on, the icon is shown in the handset display .

When you have new messages or memos the handset displays “Y ou have ‘x’ new messages”

the earpiece.

SIM card r eader
Y our BT Domus has a SIM car d reader which allows you to copy entries fr om a SIM card to
the Domus phonebook. Note: 3G and 5V SIM cards ar e not compatible.
Copy all phonebook entries from a SIM card
1. Inser t the SIM card into the SIM dr awer on the top of the base, as shown on the dr awer .
Make sur e the SIM card clicks securely in place bef ore closing the drawer

T ex t messaging
Befor e you can send and receive text messages you need to subscribe to the text messaging
ser vice (no subscription charge) and to Caller Displa y (a quar terly fee ma y be payable, check
with your network provider). Please see the online full user guide f or details.
T o subscribe to the text messaging ser vice
Y ou will be automatically register ed when you send your first tex t message or you can send
the word ‘R egister’ to
00000. Y ou will receive a welcome message back as confirmation.

Guarant ee
Y our BT Domus is guarant eed for a period of
12 months from the date of pur chase.
Subject to the terms listed below , the guarantee
will provide f or the repair of , or at BT’ s or its
agent’ s discretion the option to replace the B T
Domus, or any component thereof , (other than
batteries), which is identified as faulty or below
standard, or as a result of inf erior workmanship or
materials. Products over 28 days old fr om the date
of purchase may be r eplaced with a refurbished or
repair ed product.
The conditions of this guarantee ar e:
• The guarantee shall only apply t o defects that
occur within the 12 month guarantee period.
• Proof of pur chase is required.
• The equipment is returned t o BT or its agent
as instructed.
This guarantee does not cover any faults or def ects
caused by accidents, misuse, fair wear and tear ,
neglect, tampering with the equipment, or any
attempt at adjustment or repair other than through
approved agents.
This guaran tee doe s not aff ect your sta tutory righ ts.

Mo st p ro ble ms ar e c aus ed by som eth ing very sim ple an d c an be fix ed wit h a f ew sim ple ch eck s:
• Make sur e both the mains power adaptor cable and telephone line cord ar e plugged into
the correct sock ets and plugged in at the wall.
• Make sur e you use all the cables and batter y pack that came in the box, not those fr om a
previous pr oduct.
• If you experience poor speech quality or interference, mak e sure the product is not
located too close to other electrical appliances. This can also help impr ove the handset
range fr om the base.
• Make sur e you charge the battery pack for at least 24 hours before first use to ensur e
maximum battery per formance. The charge capacity of the batt eries will decrease
over time.
Using your BT Domus on a br oadband Internet enabled line?
Remember t o plug the phone into the wall socket via an ADSL micr ofilter if you have
broadband Internet on your phone line, otherwise you may have problems with this
product and your br oadband ser vice. Additional BT ADSL micr ofilters can be purchased
from www .shop.bt.com
