1. PoE Limit LED
On (amber): PoE is supplying more than 30 watts of power to all
devices. For temperatures above 40°C (104°F), don’t connect devices
that draw more than 30 watts of PoE power total.
Blinking (amber): PoE power has been disabled to some ports
because the maximum 50 watts of PoE power has been exceeded.
PoE power was disabled for ports in order of descending port
number until the total PoE output power was 50 watts or less.
Off: The switch is in normal operating condition.
2. Loop LED
Blinking once per second (red): Loop blocked.
Off: The switch is in normal operating condition.
3. Power LED
On (green): Power is on.
Off: Power is off.
4. PoE LEDs
On (green): PoE power is available.
On (amber): Overcurrent or excessive power draw.
Off: PoE power is disabled.
5. 1000 Mbps LEDs
On (green): 1000 Mbps link.
Blinking once per second (green): Loop blocked.
Off: 100 Mbps, 10 Mbps link, or no link.

Technical Specifications
Loop Prevention
This unit can detect and prevent network loops that can cause
interference in the network.
What Is a Loop?
If both ends of an Ethernet cable are connected to the same hub, or
when multiple connections exist between two hubs, data may be sent
in a loop around the network, never getting to its destination and thus
wasting network capacity. This continuously circulating data may
interfere with other network communication.
Loop Prevention
Off : Loops are not blocked.
On : If a network loop is detected, the port will be blocked until the
loop is fixed. Also, the loop, link/act, and 1000 Mbps (if active) LEDs
for the blocked port will blink once per second.
Turning Loop Prevention On and Off
1. Use the switch on the front of the switch to turn loop prevention on
and off.
2. After changing the switch position, disconnect and then reconnect
the AC adapter and the power cable.
The change will take effect after the switch reboots.
When a Loop Is Detected
Reconnect your Ethernet cabling, making sure that there are no
redundant connections.
Check Buffalo’s website or the product catalog for information about
the latest products or compatible models.
Troubleshooting
If you are unable to connect to a network, check the following:
• Are the AC adapter and the power cable connected correctly? Also, is
the power cable plugged into an outlet or surge protector?
• Is the Ethernet cable connected correctly? Are any cables
disconnected or broken?
• Is the link/act LED on? If not, manually set the communication mode of
the connected hub or LAN adapter to 100M half-duplex or 10M
half-duplex.
* This unit automatically detects and adjusts for straight or crossover
Ethernet cables, so either type of cable may be used.
** Site-terminated Ethernet cables are not recommended. Always use
pre-assembled cables.
*** This function automatically recognizes the port link status and
Ethernet cable length and adjusts the operating power accordingly.
Caution:
- While loop prevention is enabled, the switch will send a loop detection
packet through the network every two seconds. If these packets disrupt
your network in any way, disable loop prevention.
- Loop prevention cannot detect or block all types of loops.
Installation
Precautions for Installation
• Do not install the device in an unstable location such as on an
unsteady table or an inclined surface.
• Do not place another hub or object that generates heat on top of this
unit.
• Please route all cables properly to prevent people from tripping over
them.
• Ensure the air vents on the product are not blocked by other
equipment or walls.
• Only use the AC adapter included with the product. Using other AC
adapters may result in damage or fire.
Floor or Shelf Mounting
Attach the supplied rubber feet to the bottom corners of the unit before
use.
Mounting to a Metal Surface
To mount to a metal surface on a steel desk, use the “BS-MGK-A Magnet
Kit” sold separately (Size: φ17×H3 mm, 4 pcs).
Wall Mounting
To mount the unit directly onto a wall, use 2 screws (not included) with
the dimensions shown below. Install the screws 113 mm (4.4 in) apart
and slide the mounting holes into the base of the switch over them.

6. Link/Act LEDs
On (green): Link established.

7. Loop prevention switch
Switch loop prevention on and off. After flipping the switch,
disconnect and then reconnect the AC adapter and the power cable.
8. PoE ports
These Ethernet ports support PoE. Connect devices that need
Ethernet power to these ports. Each port can supply up to 15.4 watts.
The maximum total supply for all 6 ports will vary according to the
operating temperature. If it is below 40°C (104°F) , 50 watts. If it is
40°C (104°F) or above, 30 watts.
Connect Ethernet devices to the switch in ascending order of port
number. If the maximum total power for PoE exceeds 50 watts, power
to ports will be disabled in descending order by port number until
the total output power for PoE is 50 watts or below.
All ports support autonegotiation. The optimal duplex mode (full
duplex or half duplex) and transfer speed (1000, 100, or 10 Mbps) are
selected automatically.
9. Uplink ports
Connect other hubs or switches to these ports. These ports don’t
support PoE.
10. DC connector
Connect the included AC adapter to this connector. Secure the AC
adapter cable with the retaining band.
Caution:
- Do not put floppy discs, magnetic cards, or other magnetic storage media
near magnets. Doing so may delete or corrupt data.
- If the switch is secured by the magnet kit alone, it should be no more than
75 cm (29.5 in) from the floor.

1. LED Limite PoE
Acceso (ambra): alimentazione PoE per tutti i dispositivi supera i 30
watt. Per temperature superiori a 40°C (104°F), non collegare
dispositivi che assorbono più di 30 watt della PoE totale.
Lampeggiante (ambra): alimentazione PoE disabilitata per alcune
porte perché è stato superato il valore massimo di 50 watt.
L’alimentazione PoE è stata disabilitata per le porte in ordine
decrescente rispetto al numero delle porte fino a quando il suo
valore in uscita totale è pari o inferiore a 50 watt.
Spento: Lo switch è in condizione di funzionamento normale.
2. LED ricircolo
Lampeggiante una volta al secondo (rosso): ricircolo bloccato.

Specifiche tecniche
Funzionalità antiricircolo
L’unità può rilevare e prevenire i ricircoli di rete che possono causare
interferenze nella rete.
Che cos’è un Ricircolo?
Se entrambi i capi del cavo Ethernet sono collegati allo stesso hub, o
quando esistono connessioni multiple tra due hub, i dati possono
essere mandati in ricircolo sulla rete, non giungendo mai a destinazione
e comportando quindi una perdita di capacità della rete. Il passaggio
continuo di dati può interferire con altre comunicazioni della rete.
Funzionalità antiricircolo
Spento : ricircoli non bloccati.
Acceso : se viene rilevato un ricircolo di rete, la porta sarà bloccata fino
a quanto il ricircolo non viene eliminato. Inoltre, i LED di
collegamento/azione e 1000 Mbps (se attivo) per la porta
bloccata lampeggeranno una volta al secondo.
Attivare e disattivare la funzionalità antiricircolo
1. Usare lo switch anteriore per attivare e disattivare la funzionalità
antiricircolo.
2. Dopo aver modificato la posizione dello switch, scollegare e
ricollegare l’adattatore CA e il cavo di alimentazione.
La modifica sarà effettiva dopo aver riacceso lo switch.
Quando viene rilevato un ricircolo
Ricollegare i cavi Ethernet, assicurandosi che non ci siano connessioni
ridondanti.
Verificare sul sito di Buffalo o sul catalogo del prodotto per informazioni
sui prodotti più recenti o sui modelli compatibili.
Risoluzione problemi
Se non è possibile collegarsi alla rete, verificare che:
• L’adattatore CA e Il cavo di alimentazione sono collegati
correttamente? Inoltre, il cavo di alimentazione è collegato ad un’altra
presa o ad un elemento di protezione?
• Il cavo Ethernet è collegato correttamente? Ci sono cavi scollegati o
rotti?
• Il LED collegamento/azione è acceso? Se non lo è, impostare
manualmente la modalità di comunicazione dell’hub collegato o
dell’adattatore LAN su 100M half-duplex o 10M half-duplex.
* L’unità rileva e si regola automaticamente per i cavi Ethernet dritti o
incrociati, quindi è possibile usare qualsiasi tipo di cavo.
** Cavi Ethernet interrotti non consigliati. Usare sempre cavi
preassemblati.
*** Questa funzione riconosce automaticamente lo stato del
collegamento della porta e la lunghezza del cavo Ethernet e adatta
l’alimentazione di conseguenza.
Attenzione:
- Quando la funzionalità antiricircolo è abilitata, lo switch invierà un
pacchetto di rilevamento ricircoli nella rete ogni due secondi. Se questi
pacchetti interferiscono in qualche mondo con la rete, disabilitare la
funzionalità antiricircolo.
- La funzionalità antiricircolo non può rilevare o bloccare tutti i tipi di ricircolo.
Installazione
Precauzioni per l’installazione
• Non installare il dispositivo in una sede non stabile come ad esempio
un tavolo instabile o una superficie inclinata.
• Non posizionare un altro hub od oggetto che genera calore al su
questa unità.
• Posizionare adeguatamente tutti i cavi per evitare che le persone vi
inciampino.
• Assicurarsi che gli sfiati di aerazione del prodotto non siano bloccate
da altri dispositivi o da muri.
• Usare solo l’adattatore CA fornito con il prodotto. L’uso di altri
adattatori CA può comportare danni o causare incendi.
Installazione a pavimento o su scaffale
Prima dell’uso attaccare i piedini in gomma inclusi negli angoli inferiori
dell’unità.
Installazione su una superficie metallica
Per installare su una superficie metallica su un piano in acciaio, usare il
“BS-MGK-A Magnet Kit” venduto a parte (dimensione: φ17×H3 mm, 4
pz).
Installazione a parete
Per installare l’unità direttamente su una parete, usare 2 viti (non incluse)
delle dimensioni indicate di seguito. Installare le viti a 113 mm di distanza
e far scorrere i fori di montaggio nella base dello switch sopra di loro.

7. Switch funzionalità antiricircolo
Attivare e disattivare lo Switch funzionalità antiricircolo. Dopo aver
acceso e spento lo switch scollegare e ricollegare l’adattatore CA e il
cavo di alimentazione.
8. Porte PoE
Queste porte Ethernet supportano PoE. Collegare i dispositivi che
necessitano di alimentazione Ethernet a queste porte. Ogni porta
può fornire fino a 15,4 watt. L’alimentazione massima complessiva
per tutte le 6 porte varierà in base alla temperatura di esercizio. Se è
inferiore a 40°C (104°F) , 50 watt. Se è 40°C (104°F) , 30 watt.
Collegare i dispositivi Ethernet allo switch in ordine crescente
rispetto al numero delle porte. Se l’alimentazione complessiva
massima per il PoE supera 50 watt, l’alimentazione alle porte sarà
disabilitata in ordine decrescente rispetto al numero delle porte fino
a quando l’alimentazione totale in uscita per il PoE non è uguale o
inferiore a 50 watt.
Tutte le porte supportano l’autonegoziazione. La modalità duplex
ottimale (full duplex o half duplex) e la velocità di trasferimento
(1.000, 100 o 10 Mbps) sono selezionate automaticamente.
9. Porte Uplink
Collegare altri hub o interruttori a queste porte. Queste porte non
supportano PoE.
10. Connettore CC
Collegare a questo connettore all’adattatore CA incluso. Vincolare il
cavo dell’adattatore CA con la fascetta di ritegno.
Attenzione:
- Non mettere floppy disc, schede magnetiche o altri dispositivi di
archiviazione magnetici vicino alle calamite. Una simile operazione
potrebbe eliminare o danneggiare i dati.
- Se lo switch è vincolato solo dal kit magnetico, non deve essere posizionato
a più di 75 cm dal suolo.
- La testa della vite deve sporgere 3 mm dal muro
come mostrato a destra.
- NON usare le viti incluse con il prodotto. Le viti
incluse con il prodotto non possono essere usate
per l’installazione a parete.
