point size
Character height is defined in points; one point is 1/72 inch.
printer cable
The cable used to connect your printer and a computer.
printing area
The area of a sheet of paper on which a printer can reproduce text or graphics. The printing
area is smaller than the paper.
print head capping
An automatic protection function that prevents the print head unit and BJ tanks from drying
out or becoming clogged with dust.
Print mode
The print mode setting determines how the printer operates. Set the print mode according
to the type of printing you want to do and the type of media you are using. The default are
Standard, Draft, DTP, Photo, and SuperPhoto.
printer driver
Software that sends printing instructions to a printer. The printer driver keeps track of the
attributes of a printer and the codes the program must send to access those attributes.
proportional spacing
The spacing of characters according to the width of each character. This variable spacing
between each character closes up awkward-looking gaps and makes the text easier to
read. For example, less space for an “i” and more for a “w”.
