Troubleshooting

Print Quality is Poor or Contains Errors

Problem Possible Cause Try This

Ink does not eject

properly/Printing is

Blurred/Colors are

Wrong/White

Streaks appear

Ink tank is not seated

properly/Ink tank is

empty

Check that the ink tanks are firmly seated in the Print Head and reseat them if

necessary.

Check that the correct ink tanks are installed and that they are in the correct

order.

Check to see if all the orange tape has been peeled off as shown in (1). If there

remains a part of the orange tape as shown in (2), remove it thoroughly.

If ink tank is empty, replace the ink tank. See “Replacing an Ink Tank” on page

42.

Print Head is

misaligned

Align the Print Head.

See “Aligning the Print Head” on page 61.

Print Head nozzles are

clogged

Print the nozzle check pattern to check for uneven ink output.

See “Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern” on page 49.

See “Print Head Cleaning” on page 53.

Paper loaded wrong

side up

Check the print side of the paper.

Follow the instructions packaged with your specialty media for

loading and handling.

Incorrect paper type

On the M

ain tab of the printer driver, confirm that the M

edia Type selected

matches the paper loaded.

In the

Print dialog box of the printer driver, select Q

uality & Media from the

pop-up menu, and then confirm that the M

edia Type selected matches the

paper loaded.

Glossy photo paper

other than the Canon

specialty media is

used

Select O

ther Photo Paper from M

edia Type. It may resolve the problem. Load

one sheet at a time and remove each sheet as soon as it is printed.

Print Quality is not set

properly

Be sure to set the P

rint Quality setting to H

igh in Windows, or F

ine in

Macintosh.

rinter Properties dialog box.

igh for the P

rint Quality setting.

When you cannot choose the H

igh setting or when the print quality does

not improve, select C

ustom, click S

et and then adjust the Q

uality bar for

higher print quality.
