Detachable Contr oller Electric Blankets
Connecting the C ontrols
When the blanket is secur ely attached to the mat tress, c onnect the contr ols by inserting the connect or plug
into the sockets . Ensure the plug is firmly inserted then c onnect the plug to the power point and swit ch on.
The flexible c ord and switch must be kep t outside the bed and away fr om open windows or e xposure t o
moisture.
Using Y our C ARMEN Electric Blanket
On First Fitting Y our Electric Blank et
As most beds and bedding absorb moisture, y our electric blanket has to driv e out this moisture bef ore being
able to opera te to its fullest potential. Ther efor e, on the first day o f use, it is rec ommended you switch y our
electric blanket on the highest set ting for 3-4 hours bef ore going to bed. Y ou ma y notice a slight odour due
to the blanket’ s newness, which is completely harmless and will quickly disappe ar .
Heat C ontroller
The CARMEN he at contr oller comes with an easily adjustable temper atur e slide switch, br aille markings, and
a power indic ator light with a he at setting displa y .
For maximum c omfort the CARMEN He at c ontroller off ers the following se ttings:
0 = Off
1 = Low Hea t (Suitable for all night use)
2 = Medium Heat
3 = High Heat (Ide al for pr eheating the bed)
Normal Day to D ay Oper ation
It is rec ommended that the cor d switch is set on Setting ‘3’ f or 1 to 2 hours bef ore going to bed and then
can be turned down t o Setting ‘2’ or ‘1’ or off alt ogether depending on your o wn requirements whilst in
bed.
Wa tchdog Safe ty Timer
Should you for get to turn y our blanket of f after y ou get out of bed, the digital contr oller has a 6 hour safe ty
timer . This me ans the blanket will automatic ally switch off 6 hours a fter the last adjustment was made t o
the contr oller .
Important
Check daily that your blanke t is flat, fully spread out and secur ed befor e switching on.

Recommended Cle aning and Stor age Instructions
Electric Blankets f eatur e waterpr oof he ating elements, r endering them suitable for localised cle aning at the
least. Some models fe ature detachable c ontrollers which makes them sa fe to be fully hand washable . It
is not rec ommended that you w ash your electric blanket in a w ashing machine as this proc ess may
harm your blanket, eff ecting its ability to opera te efficiently .
Below , are two rec ommended methods for w ashing your electric blanke t. Please ensure the blanket is
turned off and disc onnected from the po wer outlet bef ore cle aning commences .
Spot Cleaning
The are a affect ed should be sponged gently using a natur al OR NEUTRAL wool deter gent or mild soap flakes
in lukew arm water , followed b y two spongings with clean luk ewarm w ater . Lightly compress the tre ated
are a between tw o towels t o absorb exc ess water . The connections to the blanket should be k ept free of
moisture as much as possible.
Hand Washing
Please ensur e all controls ar e unplugged from the electric blanke t befor e cleaning.
Place your blank et in lukew arm wat er mixed with either a natur al wool deter gent or with mild soap flakes.
Soak your blanket f or five minutes , then gently squeeze the soapy w ater thr ough the blanket. Then with
clean, luke warm wa ter , rinse your blanket thor oughly , draining all excess w ater fr om the blanket. Do not
wring dry .
Note: Alwa ys disconnect the plug and c ontroller befor e washing. R emove the c ontroller fr om the blanket
befor e washing. Ne ver expose the c ontroller to an y moisture or any liquids .
Machine Washing
1. Remov e the detachable contr oller , ne ver expose the c ontroller to an y moisture or w ater .
2. Presoak the blanke t for 20 minutes in mild soap and luke warm wa ter .
3. Wash in mild soap and luk ewarm w ater on the “delic ate” or “gentle” cycle in the w asher for two
minutes. Remember , do not use bleach.
4. Rinse in fresh, luke warm wa ter .
5. Spin dry in the washing machine. Then gently str etch to its original siz e.
Important Note: Do not use tumble dry ers to dry the Electric Blanket, as they bec ome too hot and will
damage the wiring of the Electric Blanket.
Drying
There ar e two options f or drying the electric blanket.
1. By spr eading the blanket out fl a t (e.g. on a table) to dry in a shady ar ea.
2. The blanke t can be dried on a clothes line pr ovided the blanket is not cr eased or f olded and pro vided you
do not use pegs on the wired ar eas.
Note: Bef ore using again, make sur e that the blanke t and control sock ets are c ompletely dry .
Storing Y our Blank et
When you are no t using your blanket f or long periods of time you ha ve two st orage options .
1. Y our blanke t can stay on the bed permanently and be used as an underla y . Just remove the contr ols and
store in a sa fe, dry plac e.
2. Or alterna tively , if you decide to take the blanket of f your bed when not in use, loosely f old or roll up the
blanket to a void cre ating sharp cr eases in the blanket. Place y our blanket in a suitable stor age bag and
then store in a position wher e no other objects will be placed upon it.
