Deactivation of the passenger airbag
To guarantee the safety of your child, it is essential to deactivate the
passenger airbag if you are installing a "rear facing" child seat on
the front passenger seat. Otherwise the child risks being seriously
injured or even killed should the airbag deploy.
With the ignition switched off, insert the key into the passenger airbag
deactivation switch 1, turn it to the "OFF" position, then retrieve it while
maintaining this position.
In the "OFF" position, the passenger airbag will not deploy in the event of
a collision.
When you remove the child seat, turn the airbag switch to the "ON" position
to reactivate the airbag and thus ensure the safety of a front passenger
should there be a collision.
Checking the deactivation
With the ignition on (2nd notch of the key), the illumination of this
warning lamp indicates that the passenger airbag is deactivated
("OFF" position of the switch). The warning lamp in the
instrument panel remains on throughout the time that the airbag is
deactivated.
