Starting-up the unit
Please read these operating instructions carefully and keep
them in a safe place. If you sell or give this article to other
people please also pass on these instructions.
Non-stick coating
• Lightly grease the baking surfaces before the unit is used for
the rst time.
• Use the appliance for about 10 minutes with the toasting
surfaces closed (see „Using the unit“).
• Remove the mains plug from the socket and allow the
device to cool down. Then wipe it down with a damp cloth.
• Do not eat the rst wafes.
NOTE:
Any smoke or smells produced during this procedure are
normal. Please ensure sufcient ventilation.
Using the unit
1. Please unwind the lead completely.
2. Insert the plug in a duly installed 230 V/50 Hz protective
contact socket. The green control lamp lights up.
3. Keep the baking surfaces closed while heating. Once the
heating-up phase has ended both control lamps are on.
4. Open the lid and pour the dough in the middle of the baking
surface. To obtain even wafes, spread the dough. Please
put in only enough dough so that the lower baking surface is
covered. The dough should be lled in quickly as otherwise
the wafers will not brown evenly.
NOTE:
• Do not put in too much mixture or mixture that is too liquid
as otherwise excessive steam and possibly also mixture
may be expelled in the area of the baking surfaces.
• Only ll in the mixture (or additional mixture) when the red
control lamp is on. This will provide better baking results.
• The degree of browning on the underside of the wafes
will always be greater than on the top. This is because the
mixture is rst baked from the bottom and the top is only
baked after the mixture has risen.
5. Close the lid gently and keep it pressed together for a short
time. Be careful of the emitted steam, danger of burns.
6 When the red control lamp goes off the baking process is
nished (It can vary depending on the thickness and con-
sistency of the wafes). The baking time depends on your
individual taste. Normal browning is achieved however when
the control lamp goes off again. The green lamp remains on
and shows that the device is switched on.
7. Open the lid and remove the wafes with a wooden fork or
a similar tool. Do not use sharp objects to avoid ruining the
coating of the baking surface. Serve the wafes on a tray or
in a disk and coat with some powdered sugar.
8. Lightly grease the baking surfaces again as required after
each baking process.
9. The baking surfaces must always be kept closed during
pauses in the baking.
Switching Off
If you would like to interrupt operation or switch the device off,
remove the plug from the socket. The control lamps go off.
Recipe for wafes
5 egg yolks, 5 dessertspoons of hot water, 100 g sugar and 1
grated lemon peel should be mixed together until frothy and then
a mixture of 1/2 teaspoon baking powder and 150 g our should
be stirred in. Beat the 5 egg whites stiff and fold them into the
batter.
You can nd further recipes in our recipe books or else you can
use a ready-made baking mix.

and the edges.
