Towing the vehicle

The housing of the removable towline anchor-

age is on the right side of the front bumper

underneath a cover ›››Fig.199.

The towing eye should always be kept in the

vehicle.

Bear in mind the instructions for towing

›››page313.

Fitting the towline anchorage

●Remove the towing eye from the vehicle tool

kit in the luggage compartment ›››page308.

●Remove the cover by pressing down on its

base and leave it hanging from the vehicle

›››Fig.199.

●Screw the towing eye in the housing by

turning it to the maximum anticlockwise

›››Fig.200 , ››› . Use a suitable object

that can completely and securely tighten the

towing eye in its housing.

●After towing, unscrew the towing eye clock-

wise with a suitable object.

●Replace the cover and push it in until it clicks

into place.

●Clean the towing eye if necessary and then

store it in the luggage compartment along with

the other vehicle tools.

NOTICE

The towing eye must always be completely

and rmly tightened. Otherwise, it could

jump out of the housing during towing.

Rear towline anchorage

The housing of the screw towing eye is on

the right side of the rear bumper behind a lid

Vehicles tted as standard with a towing

bracket do not have any housing for the screw

towing eye behind the lid. In this case, the tow

hitch needs to be extracted or installed and

used for towing ›››page288 , ››› .

Bear in mind the instructions for towing

Assemble the rear towing eye (cars without a

factory-equipped towing bracket)

● Remove the towing eye from the vehicle tool

kit in the luggage compartment ›››page308.

●Press the upper side of the lid ›››Fig.201 to

unclip it.
