wait for the "OK steam ready" light (fig. 8) to
come on between one cappuccino and the next.
As soon as the tank has been emptied and the
machine has begun to puff, turn off the steam by
turning the knob in a clockwise direction.
In order to obtain a perfect cappuccino the fol-
lowing proportions are recommended: 1/3 cof-
fee, 1/3 warm milk, 1/3 frothy milk.
Important: after each use and before turning off
the steam boiler, always thoroughly clean the
machine as described in the following para-
graph.
Suggestion: in order to have a higher temperatu-
re when more than one cappuccino is to be made,
it is advisable to pour one cup of coffee at a time
and then fill it immediately with frothy milk, rather
than first pouring out all the cups of coffee
together before filling them with frothy milk.
WARNING: to eliminate the “new” smell and
above all to ensure that the appliance functions
properly, a few coffee cycles should be comple-
ted without coffee powder the first time the
appliance is used, and the steam boiler should
be washed in the following way: fill it with
water, press the ‘ON/OFF’ cappuccino switch
and after 5 minutes turn the steam knob
and leave it on until all the steam has been used
up (about 15 minutes).
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Cleaning the milk frother
The cleaning of the milk frother must be done after
each use and before turning off the steam boiler. Pro-
ceed as follows:
Remove the milk tank by pressing the lever
marked “PRESS”, and the red emulsifier by pres-
sing the A lever (fig. 15)
Wash with hot water. To facilitate the cleaning of
the tube of the milk tank, use the pipe brush which
has been included with the machine.
Remove the rubber mixing bit. Wash and clean
the emulsifier and the mixing bit with hot water,
taking care to accurately clean the holes indicated
fig. 16 (if necessary, clean each hole individually
with the aid of a needle).
Make particularly sure that the hole marked with
the B arrow is not blocked (fig. 16). Once clean,
all the pieces mush be reassembled correctly. Be
careful that the rubber mixing bit is inserted pro-
perly and that the red emulsifier is pressed until a
click is heard.
Reinsert the milk tank into its housing and fill it
with a small quantity of water.
Position an empty recipient under the milk tank
tube and open the tap, turning the steam knob
until all the water has come out. With this opera-
tion, a thorough cleaning of the internal system
can be done, eliminating all traces of milk.
Turn off the steam boiler.
Other cleaning
Clean the jug and the coffee filter on a regular
basis.
To clean the plastic parts of the machine, do not
use solvents or abrasive detergents. A soft cloth is
sufficient.
Never immerse the appliance in water.
DESCALING
Lime present in the water is deposited in the internal
system, compromising the proper functioning of the
coffee maker and requiring a special procedure to
remove this lime from time to time. The amount of time
between cleanings depends on the hardness of the
water and how often the coffee maker is used. In any
case, it is advisable to descale the machine once after
80 uses (or 40 if the water is particularly hard in the
area) according to the following procedure:
remove the chlorine filter (D) and the coffee filter
(Y) from the appliance (so as to not contaminate
them);
pour three cups of white wine vinegar and three
cups of tap water into the water tank;
place the jug with its lid onto the hotplate and the
filter holder into its housing without ground coffee;
press the ON/OFF switch (Q), and percolate the
equivalent of about one cup of coffee before tur-
ning off the appliance;
allow the solution to take effect for one hour;
turn the machine back on and percolate the rest of
the solution;
rinse the machine by running plain water through
the system at least three more times (3 whole jugs
of water each time);
The coffee machine is equipped with an automatic
system which warns when the lime deposits reaches
an exceedingly high level. If the ON coffee light (T)
flashes, an accurate descaling must be done accor-
ding to the following procedure:
remove the chlorine filter holder (D) and the cof-
fee filter (Y) from the appliance (so as to not con-
taminate them;
