The 4 control keys enable the following functions
to be performed :
- POL (polarity key) : When pressed,
the
polarity of the line is checked. Please
see
Operation section for details - (This key
is
replaced by a speaker key on the SERIES 4
AMPLI).
- R (register recall/hook flash) : When pressed,
the test set produces a timed line break (hook
flash) of 270 milliseconds. This function is
typically used for register recall.
- BIS (redial key) : When pressed, the last
number dialed will be redialed from the internal
memory.

details.
- M (mute key) : When pressed, the transmitter
is muted and the sidetone is eliminated. Use of
the mute feature improves communications in
noisy locations.
4. POLARITY INDICATOR LEDS
The Series 4 has 2 leds (one green and one red)
to indicate line polarity. The polarity indicator
LEDS are located above the keypad.
