9 Solving proble ms

9.1 Before you return the appliance

Before contacting your authorised Dirt Devil dealer, Dirt Devil service partner or appliance market, first

check the following table to determine whether you can solve the problem yourself.

WARNING:

Risk of injury! Never use a faulty appliance! Always switch off the appliance, set it to the neutral

position, and disconnect it from the mains before starting troubleshooting ZChapter 8, “After use”.

Problem Possible cause Solution

The appliance

does not switch

to ready for op-

eration or sud-

denly stops pro-

ducing steam.

The water tank has not

be installed correctly.

Install the water tank again, ZChapter 3, “Filling the

water tank”.

The water tank is empty. 1. Switch off the appliance, ZChapter 8, “After use”.

2. Fill the water tank, ZChapter 3, “Filling the water

tank”.

3. If the overheating protection has been triggered,

wait about 45 minutes before connecting the appli-

ance again.

The overheating protec-

tion device has been

triggered due to an emp-

ty water tank.

The appliance

pump can be

heard to be run-

ning but the ap-

pliance does

not produce any

steam.

The water filter cartridge

is too dry.

1. Remove the water filter cartridge.

2. Place it in water for a few minutes.

3. Then reinsert the water filter cartridge, ZChapter

9.2, “Checking/replacing the water filter cartridge”.

Air in the pump. 1. Remove the water filter cartridge.

2. Press the steam button and let the appliance run

for a few seconds.

3. Then reinsert the water filter cartridge, ZChapter

9.2, “Checking/replacing the water filter cartridge”.

Cleaning per-

formance is not

satisfactory

even though the

appliance is

working fine.

The floor has not been

cleaned beforehand with

a vacuum cleaner or

brush.

Make sure that the floor has been cleared of loose dirt

before cleaning with the steam cleaner.

Stubborn soiling. Use the brush/steam base with collar brush,

ZChapter 6.4, “Removing stubborn soiling”.

The cleaning cloth is

dirty.

1. Switch off the appliance, ZChapter 8, “After use”.

2. Wait for about 5 minutes. You can now remove the

cleaning cloth once it has cooled down and re-

place it with a fresh one, ZChapter 9.2, “Check-

ing/replacing the water filter cartridge”.

The water filter cartridge

is worn out.

Replace the water filter cartridge,

ZChapter 9.2,

“Checking/replacing the water filter cartridge”.

NOTE:

If you were unable to solve the problem following this table, contact the customer service depart-

ment (ZPage 202, “International Service”).
