BEFORE EACH USE
FIRST TIME OF USE
PREPARATION
The coffee machine must be fully rinsed through with
water before the first use.
1. Follow the instructions as if making an espresso, pages
18 to 21, but leave the filter holder (7) empty, i.e. no
filter (17), (18) or (19) and no ground coffee.
Empty the whole water tank (11) through the
machine; this will rinse the internals ready for brewing
coffee.
2. Refill the tank and steam as per instructions on page
22 for 15 seconds then dispense hot water as on
page 21 for 15 seconds.
3. Before they are used the filter holder, measuring
spoon, filters, water tank and froth nozzle (16) must be
washed with detergent and lukewarm water, then
rinsed and dried.
NOTE: The control knob (5) may be a harder to turn
when the machine is new. This will loosen with use.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS ENSURE THE WATER TANK
CONTAINS SUFFICIENT WATER WHEN THE COFFEE
MACHINE IS BEING USED. IF YOU TURN THE
MACHINE ON WHEN THE TANK IS EMPTY YOU MAY
DAMAGE THE PUMP.
Before each use the coffee machine needs to be primed
ready for brewing.
1. Make sure the machine is unplugged.
2. Fill the water tank by either opening the lid and
pouring water directly into the tank using a jug or
bottle, or by removing the tank and filling it at the
sink. To do this, hold the sides of the water tank and
lift it straight up. When replacing the water tank,
hook it over the lugs and make sure it has engaged
properly in the valve at the base.
Ideally you should use bottled or filtered water. This will
reduce the build up of limescale inside the machine and
produce a better tasting espresso.
