there are security cameras. The ‘LOOP’ port is meant for analogue cameras equipped
with a BNC connection. Make sure you completely fasten the connector until you hear
a click. (This type of connector can only be fitted in one manner.)
5.4 Checking the camera image
If everything has been correctly connected you should now see an overview of 4
separate camera images on the connected monitor. If this is not the case, press the
‘4CH’ button on the remote control. The image of the cameras will be shown with the
number of the input in the lower left part of the screen. If there is no signal present on
the input, the EM6010 will show the message ‘VLOSS’ on a blue background.
To show the image of a specific camera full screen, press the number of the camera
on the remote control and wait two seconds. The image will then be shown full screen.
6.0 Recording
Now that the cameras have been installed you can set the EM6010 to record the
images. The EM6010 supports three methods of recording. Each method has its own
pros and cons.
6.1 Selecting the number of recorded cameras
To prevent a waste of hard disk space for cameras that are not connected, you will
need to follow these steps to specify which cameras are active.
1. Press the red ‘Menu’ button on the remote control.
2. Navigate to the ‘Advance’ menu using the arrow keys and press ‘Enter’.
3. Press the ‘Enter’ button again to open the ‘Camera’ menu.
4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the third column called ‘REC’.
5. Use the ‘Enter’ button to set the camera to ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’. To save disk space you
will need to set unused cameras to ‘OFF’.
6. Press the ‘Menu’ button three times to leave the menu.
7. You have now specified which camera image will actually be recorded.
6.2 Determining recording strategy
Before you set the EM6010 to record images, you will need to determine a recording
strategy. Will you record the images constantly, or only at certain times? Should the
recorded images always flow smoothly or only when motion has been detected?
To make the right choice, a short explanation is needed. Your EM6010 is equipped
with a 160 GB hard disk. To record the image of one camera for 24 hours at its
highest resolution takes about 25 GB. Two cameras will take up twice as much disk
space, 50 GB. The highest setting uses 25 IPS (total number of images from all
cameras per second). At 12 IPS the image is still very watchable. This only takes up
