OVERVIEW
This d evice is a ra dio -controlled display thermostat to con trol
the room temperature with possibility of choosing fr om
different adjustm ent modes and re lative set-point
temperatures: Comfort, Econom y, Of f/Antifrost.
The thermostat i s default configured to operate in Comfort,
Economy and Antifrost modes; it can be adapted to the
different i nstallation requirements by modifying configuration,
and final user intervention can be limited, with the aim of
maximising wellbeing in the environment and energy saving.
The thermostat can be used in both heating and cooling
systems.
The thermostat is suitable for floor heating system s.
START-UP
At first operation open t he therm ostat, as shown in paragraph
'INSTALLATION' IN (C of Fig. 6), and insert batteries with the
correct polarity. The batteri es m ust b e 1.5V alkaline AA type.
Heating/Cooling Set-up
The thermostat is default set in heating mode.
Hold ' ' pressed for 1 0 seconds to modify the regulation
mode.
A. Cooling mode wil l be set i f the thermostat was previously
set on heating and t he sym bol ' ' will flash on di splay for 8
seconds.
B. Heating mode will b e set if the thermostat was previously
set on cooling and the symbol ' ' will flash on di splay for 8
seconds.
Icon ' ' Flame on signals heating activa tion during norm al
operation, on the contrary cooling activation is si gnalled by the
Snow icon ' '.
The heating/cooling m od e se tting cannot be m odi fied if the
thermostat i s configured to operate with a programmable
thermostat i n New Wave radio system, as the setting i s
defined on the programm abl e thermostat or on the relay
module.
Adjustment mode set-up
There are 2 modes to adjust the room temperatur e that can be
chosen by pressing ' '.
Comfort: the thermostat adjusts the room temperature
in comfort mode; this is n ormally the chosen
temperature during the day-time.
Economy/Auto: The t hermostat adjusts the room te mperature
according t o the economy mode (this is
usually the desired temperature during night
time), when parameter P01 is set on trA .
When, on the other hand, parameter P0 1 is
set on rEC the thermostat adjusts the room
temperature according to comfort mode or
economy mode based on t he t ime prog ram
which has been set on the associated
chronostat.
OFF / Antifrost: Turns off t he thermostat. The d isplay will
show t he label ' OFF '. If the thermostat was
set in heat ing mode t he antifrost function will
be active a nd the symbol ' ' will a ppear on
the display; in this case the roo m
temperature w ill be adjust ed acc ording to t he
value set as antifrost temperature in
parameter P03 (see paragraph 'INSTALLE R
CONFIGURATION').
The thermostat is default configured for usin g the, OF F,
Comfort and Economy modes.
Through the i nstaller p a rameter P02 on e or more operating
modes c an be re moved (see the 'INSTALLER
CONFIGURATION' paragraph).
Pressing ' ' cyclically selects between th e di fferent
activated adjustment modes:
Once an adjustment mode is set, it remains so until the ' '
key is pressed again.
See the 'INSTALLER CONFIGURATION' paragraph for further
information on how to configure the adjustment m ode s.
Set-point Temperature
Fig. 8
During normal operation the d isplay shows the temperature
measured in the room an d the icon f or the selected operating
mode. In order to show the relevant set-point temperature
press an y of the keys ' ' or ' ': the d isplay will sho w the set -
point te mperature an d the icon ' ' wil l turn on (thus s howing
that the value shown refers to t he set-point temperature).
The icon ' ' tu rns on together with icon ' ' t hus meaning that
the displa y is showing t he ‘Comfort’ set-point temperature or,
as an alternative, t ogether with icon ' ' thus meaning t hat the
display is showing the ’Economy’ set-point temperature.
Pressing the key ' ' or ' ' res ults in modifiying the current set -
point temperature. B y press ing the key ' ' or ' ' the set-point
temperature digits st art flashing to po int out that the s et point
can be changed.
Pressing the key ' ' whi le the display is showing the
‘Comfort’ set-point temperature results in switch ing to the
‘Economy’ set-point display.
On t he oth er hand when the display shows the 'Economy' set -
point pr essing th e ' ' key results in showing the 'Co mfort'
set-point.
A further pressing of the ' ' key results in showing the ro om
temperature, as well as after a f ew seconds of inactivity on the
keys.
EXTERNAL NTC SENSOR
The thermostat features an input ( ' REMOTE SENSOR ', B in
Fig. 6) for connect ing an externa l NTC sensor (optional)
alternatively the the internal one.
The external sensor can be used to measure the room
temperature when the thermostat is installed in a position which
does not allow a c orrect measure ment of the roo m
temperature.
When the installation requires a mounting with re mote sensor, it
is necess ary to set correctly the paramet er P10 and c onnect a
4700 oh m at 25 ° C NTC sensor. If in doubt about the t ype of
sensor to be connected, please consult the ma nufacturer.
The t hermostat leaves the factory alread y set for the operation
with the internal sensor.
RADIO SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Check the receiver to be coupled with the thermostat i s
compatible fr om the 'COMPATIBILITY W ITH NEW W AVE
RADIO SYSTEM' paragraph.
Check the r eceiver correctly receives the wireless thermostat's
signals before i nstalling the latter in the wanted position. The
operation is carried out by ac ti vating the 'Test' funct i on by
simultaneously pressing ' ' and ' ' .
The thermostat displays the writing 'T EST ' and continuously
transmits switch-on an d off controls to th e recei ver, with a 2
second pause between them, in 'Test' mode; the symbol ' '
on the display switches on every time the thermostat trans mits
a radio control.
The 'Test' mode can be ended at any time by pressing ' '.
However, the 'Test' mode auto matically ends after approx.
17 minutes.
The 'Test' mode must be used to self-learn the ther mostat
address on the receiver and, subsequently, the relative
output's relay in the receiver, must continuously switch -on a nd
off every 2 seconds; th e relative LED also i ndicates the status.
If so, the thermostat correctly communicates with the receiver.
Ensure the two devices still correctly communicate when
positioning the thermostat in the wanted area.
The output r elay always re mains on or off if the th ermostat i s
positioned too far from the receiver: if so, we recommend
finding a be tter position, maybe closer to the receiver, and
ensure it is not near m etal screens or reinforced concrete
walls that might weaken radio transmission.
The signal quality can be monitored i n the recei ver ( see the
relative documentation for further information).
ASSOCIATION WITH A PROGRAMMABLE
THERMOSTAT
It i s possible for th e thermostats to adjust the room
temperature based on the hourly program set on th e
programmable thermostat, in a New W ave radio system
consisting of a more cha nnel receiver module, a
programmable thermostat and m or e simple thermostats.
This can be obtained b y a ssociating the outputs controlled by
the thermostats on the receiver, to the p rogramm abl e
thermostat ones. A programmable thermostat and the
thermostats associated to it, in this way form an 'area'.
For example, a day area and a night ar ea can be cr eated i n a
home, with adjustment on more rooms b ased on the different
programmable hourly bands on tw o programmable
thermostats.
The associate d channels rece i ve information from th e
programmable thermostat of which adj ust ment mode to use
and, therefore, which tem per ature to adjust, comfort or
economy, off or antifrost.
If the programmable thermostat is adjusting at a Comfort
temperature, the associated therm ostats adjust a ccording to
their Com fort set-point; w herea s, i f th e programm abl e
thermostat is adjusting an economy temperature, the
associated thermostats adjust with their economy
temperature. Simila rly, if the programm ab le thermostat is off
with a ntifrost function at 5°C, the associated th ermostats al so
adjust the antifrost temperature 5°C.
The di splay thermostat can al so ha ve the output associated to
a programmable the rmostat and, when set in ' Auto' mode
(symbol ' ' on), the receiver adj usts with the adj ust ment
mode received from the programmable thermostat.
The P01 parameter must be set a t 'rEC ', when wanting to use
the thermostat in association with a programmable thermostat.
See the receiver instructions for the association procedure.
INSTALLER CONFIGURATION
The installer configuration allows defi ning the therm ostat
operation to adjust it to the different types of rooms an d
systems.
Hold ' ' and ' ' simultaneously pr essed for a few se conds
until the ' ' symbol and the writi ng ' Con ' (con figuration)
appear on the display, to access configuration.
Pressing ' ' fro m now, scrolls the different installer
parameters id entified with 'P ' an d by the parameter nu mber,
from P01 to P18.
