Read this document carefully to use this printer safely
and correctly.
Safety Instructions
For your safety, read the attached documents carefully
to use this printer correctly. After you have read
all instructions, keep this manual handy for future
reference and to make your concerns clear. Items below
indicate safety precautions to protect users, their
surroundings and their property from possible injury
or damage. Precautionary notations are categorised
as follows according to personal injury and damage to
the equipment if the instructions are ignored or the
equipment is misused.
WARNING
This symbol indicates information that, if ignored,
could possibly result in serious personal injury or
even death due to incorrect handling.
CAUTION
This symbol indicates information that, if ignored,
could possibly result in personal injury or physical
damage due to incorrect handling.
The following describes the meaning of each symbol
used in the precautions.
This indicates an important reminder.
This indicates a prohibited item.
This indicates a mandatory procedure.
WARNING
When using the AC adapter and power
cable
Do not use any AC adapter or power cable other
than the dedicated AC adapter and power cable.
Do not use the AC adapter with other than the
specified voltage also. Otherwise, damage,
overheating, fire or electric shock may occur.
Take the following precautions when handling the
AC adapter and power cable.
Make sure to avoid octopus wiring.
Make sure the plug is not dusty before inserting
it into an outlet.
Insert the plug firmly into the outlet.
Do not hold the plug with wet hands.
Do not pull the power cable when disconnecting
the plug. Be sure to hold the plug when
disconnecting it.
Do not make any modification to the AC adapter
or power cable.
Do not apply strong shocks to or put a heavy
object on the AC adapter or power cable.
Do not bend or twist the AC adapter or power
cable forcibly.
Do not place the AC adapter or power cable near
a heater.

Do not use any damaged AC adapter or power
cable. Otherwise, damage, overheating or
smoking may occur, which may result in fire or
electric shock.
Do not touch the plug during thunderstorms.
When using this printer
Do not apply any strong force or shocks to the
printer such as standing on, dropping or hitting
it. Otherwise, the printer may be broken, which
may result in fire or electric shock. If it is damaged,
turn off the power immediately, unplug the AC
adapter and then contact the EPSON customer
support centre. Continuous use may result in fire
or electric shock.
Take care not to spill any beverage such as tea,
coffee or juice onto the printer, or to spray aerosol
insecticide. It may cause malfunction, fire, or
electric shock. If any liquid has been spilled on
the printer, turn off the power, unplug the AC
adapter immediately, and then contact the EPSON
customer support centre. Continuous use may
result in fire or electric shock.
Do not touch the printhead because it becomes
very hot. Otherwise, there is a risk of burns.
Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the
printer. Doing so may result in fire or electric
shock. Always use the printer as instructed in this
manual. Otherwise, damage or injury may occur.
Do not disconnect the AC adapter and USB cable
from the printer without turning off the printer
with the power button. Doing so may cause
malfunction of the printer.
If any of the following abnormalities is observed,
turn off the power immediately, unplug the AC
adapter, and then contact the EPSON customer
support centre.
If smoke, strange odours or unexpected noises
come from the printer.
If liquid or foreign objects get inside the printer.
If the printer has been dropped or damaged.

Problems
The printer does not work if a print job is
sent.
Is there any message displayed on the computer screen?
Check the content of message.
Is the printer driver installed?
Install the printer driver.

Did you reboot the computer after installing the printer
driver?
The printer driver may not be installed correctly unless
the computer is rebooted. Re-install the printer driver.

Is the printer correctly connected to the computer?
Check the cable connecting the printer to the computer.

Is the AC adapter connected?
Check the connection of the AC adapter.

Is the selected printer correct?
If a wrong printer is selected, printing cannot be done
normally.

Characters are missing or faint.
Is the printhead or platen roller dirty?
Clean the printhead or platen roller.
s On this side
The label is not automatically cut.
Is “Don't cut” selected?
Check the settings of the printer driver.
Is the cutter blade worn?
The cutter blade can eventually become dull and warn.
If this happens, contact the EPSON customer support
centre for advice.
Tape cartridge cannot be removed.
Did you turn the power off during cutting?
If the printer is turned off by opening the top cover or
unplugging the AC adapter during cutting, the tape will
get stuck on the cutter and the cartridge may become
unremovable. In such a case, close the top cover,
then turn the printer back on and wait until it stops
operating. Then turn it off again and remove the tape
cartridge.
Unable to attach labels.
Did you peel off the backing paper?
Peel off the backing paper before attaching the label.
Are you attaching it to a dirty or rough surface?
The label may not adhere due to the material of the
attachment location or the environmental conditions.
Is it a long label?
To attach a long one nice and straight, use the included
label application tool.

Tape has jammed.
Is the tape wrapped round the platen roller?
Open the top cover and remove the tape cartridge.
If the cartridge cannot be removed:
1. Press and hold and until the roller turns in
reverse.
2. Remove the tape from the roller.
If you cannot remove the entire tape at once, go back
to step 1 and try again until the tape is completely
removed.

Cleaning
CAUTION
Before you start cleaning, turn off the power and unplug
the AC adapter.
Exterior
Wipe the dirt off with a soft cloth. If it is very dirty, use a
cloth wrung out of water.
CAUTION
Never use chemicals or solvents such as benzine,
thinner, or alcohol, or use a chemical duster.

When handling the auto cutter
Do not touch the tape outlet slot (where the
labels come out) during printing or when the auto
cutter is in operation. Otherwise, there is a risk of

Do not use or store the printer, AC adapter, power

cartridges in the following places.
In direct sunlight.
Where it may become extremely hot such as in a
vehicle with the windows closed.
Where it may become extremely hot such as
near a heater or the temperature becomes very
unstable such as near the exhaust duct of an air
conditioner.
Where the printer may get wet due to a shower
or rain such as in a bathroom or outdoors.
In a dusty place or where the printer may be
exposed to smoke or steam such as near the
kitchen or a humidifier.
On an unstable place such as on a shaky table or
on an inclined place.
Where it might be subjected to vibration or
shock.
Near high-voltage power lines or something that
generates a magnetic field.

Keep the plastic bags used to contain the printer
or this manual out of reach of children. Children
may suffocate if they swallow them or put their
heads into the bags.
CAUTION
When using the AC adapter
Do not use the AC adapter in a small, confined
space, or cover it with a cloth. Otherwise, the AC
adapter may overheat and deteriorate.
When using this printer
Do not stand on printer or place it on an unstable
place such as on a shaky table or on an incline.
Otherwise, printer may fall and cause injury.
To ensure safety, unplug the printer before
leaving it unused.
Before cleaning, make sure to unplug the AC
adapter from the outlet.
Do not use a moistened cloth or solvents such as
alcohol, thinner or benzine.
Others
The supplied disc is a data CD-ROM for
computers. Do not play it in an audio CD player.
Otherwise a very loud sound may be emitted,
causing risk to both your hearing and your audio
equipment.
Be careful of continuous use of the printer, which
may cause eye fatigue.
When handling tape and ribbon
cartridges
Do not drop them or disassemble them. Doing so may
cause damage.
Do not pull or push in the tape protruding from the
tape outlet slot. Doing so may damage the printer.
Store the cartridges in a cool dark place away from
direct sunlight, heat, moisture and dust.
After unpacking, use the cartridges as soon as possible.

About the tape cartridges
Two types of tape cartridges, tape type and pre-cut
label type, are available. Pre-cut labels are made of heat-
sensitive paper. When using the pre-cut label type,
remove the ribbon cartridge in advance.
Other cautions
Notes on usage
Take care not to cut your fingers when cutting the label
with scissors.
Do not attach a label on human bodies, living things,
public facilities or other people's belongings.

About the printed labels
Depending on the environment labels are used in and
the nature of the object labels are attached to, the
following issues may occur:
Label: Discolouration, faded characters,
peeling
Adhesive side: Adhesive residue, staining, damage
Carefully check the suitability of the label for the
intended purpose before use. EPSON takes no
responsibility for any damage or loss due to the above
mentioned causes.

Il disco in dotazione è un CD-ROM di dati per
computer. Non riprodurlo in un lettore per CD

Dopo averle tolte dalla confezione, utilizzare le

Informazioni sulle cartucce delle etichette
Sono disponibili due tipi di cartucce delle etichette: un
tipo per etichette e uno per etichette pretagliate. Le
etichette pretagliate sono composte di carta sensibile al
calore. Se si usa il tipo a etichetta pretagliata, rimuovere
anticipatamente la cartuccia di nastro.

Fare attenzione a non tagliarsi le dita se si utilizzano le
forbici per tagliare l'etichetta.
Non attaccare le etichette su parti del corpo, esseri
viventi, strutture pubbliche o proprietà di altre

le etichette e alla natura dell'oggetto alle quali sono

problemi:

Lato adesivo: residui di adesivo, macchie, danni
Controllare con attenzione se l'etichetta è
effettivamente adatta allo scopo desiderato prima di
utilizzarla. EPSON non si assume alcuna responsabilità
in caso di danni o perdite dovute alle cause citate in
precedenza.

Pulizia

Prima di pulire la stampante, spegnerla e scollegare
l'adattatore CA.
Esterno
Pulire la sporcizia con un panno morbido. Se è molto
sporco, utilizzare un panno umido.

Non utilizzare mai prodotti chimici o solventi come
benzina, diluenti o alcol né utilizzare un panno per la
polvere con sostanze chimiche.
Testina di stampa e rullo
Testina di stampa: pulire con
un tamponcino di cotone.
Rullo:
1. Aprire il coperchio superiore.
2. Tenendo premuto ,
premere .
3. Dopo l'arresto del rullo,
scollegare l'adattatore CA.
4. Pulire il rullo.
La stampante non funziona se si invia un
lavoro di stampa.
Sullo schermo del computer compare un messaggio?
Controllare i contenuti del messaggio.
Il driver della stampante è installato?
Installare il driver della stampante.

Il computer è stato riavviato dopo aver installato il driver
della stampante?
È possibile che il driver della stampante non venga

La lama del taglierino è rovinata?
La lama del taglierino potrebbe usurarsi con il tempo.

EPSON per ulteriori informazioni.
Non è possibile rimuovere la cartuccia
dell'etichetta.
La stampante è stata spenta durante il taglio?
Se durante il taglio la stampante è stata spenta in
seguito all'apertura del coperchio superiore o allo
scollegamento dell'adattatore CA, l'etichetta rimarrà
bloccata nel taglierino e la cartuccia potrebbe rimanere
bloccata. In questo caso, chiudere il coperchio
superiore, riaccendere la stampante e attendere che
si arresti. Quindi, spegnere di nuovo la stampante ed
estrarre la cartuccia dell'etichetta.
Non è possibile attaccare le etichette.
È stata rimossa la pellicola sul retro?
Togliere la pellicola sul retro prima di attaccare
un'etichetta.
Si sta attaccando l'etichetta su una superficie sporca o
ruvida?
È possibile che l'etichetta non aderisca bene a causa del
materiale del punto in cui la si desidera attaccare o delle
condizioni ambientali.

Per attaccare un'etichetta lunga in modo che sia ben
diritta, utilizzare l'applicatore di etichette in dotazione.

L'etichetta è arrotolata intorno al rullo?
Aprire il coperchio superiore ed estrarre la cartuccia
dell'etichetta.
Se non è possibile rimuovere la cartuccia dell'etichetta:
1. Tenere premuto e finché il rullo non gira in
senso inverso.
2. Rimuovere l'etichetta dal rullo.
Se non è possibile rimuovere tutta l'etichetta, tornar al
passo 1 e riprovare finché l'etichetta non viene rimossa
del tutto.
