Transporting the Printer

Uninstall the optional cabinet and paper cassette units, and then pack the printer in its box using the protective

materials.

1. Uninstall the optional paper cassette units and cabinet if installed.

2. Follow the steps for moving the printer.

3. Pack the printer in its box using the protective material.

❏ When storing or transporting the printer, avoid tilting it, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down;

otherwise ink may leak.

❏ Remove the ink supply units before you transport the printer; otherwise ink may leak during transporting.

Aer the transportation, re-install the ink supply units as soon as possible to prevent the print head drying

out.

❏ Leave the maintenance box installed; otherwise ink may leak during transporting.

Note:

If print quality has declined the next time you print, clean and align the print head.

Accessing an External USB Device From a Computer

You can write or read data on an external USB device such as a USB ash drive that has been inserted in the

printer from a computer.

Important:

When sharing an external device inserted in the printer between computers connected over USB and over a

network, write access is only allowed to the computers that are connected by the method you selected on the printer.

To write to the external USB device, select a connection method from the following menu on the printer's control

panel.

Settings > General Settings > Printer Settings > Memory Device Interface > File Sharing.

Note:

It takes a while to recognize data from a computer if a large external USB device, such as 2TB HDD, is connected.

Windows

Select an external USB device in Computer or My Computer. e data on the external USB device is displayed.

Note:

If you connected the printer to the network without using the soware disc or Web Installer, map a USB port as a network

drive. Open Run and enter a printer name \\XXXXX or a printer's IP address \\XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX to Open:. Right-click

a device icon displayed to assign the network. e network drive appears in Computer or My Computer.
