6. INSTALLATION AND TEST RUN

1 Having unpacked the box, you should check if all the accessories are

complete.

2 The lathe should be installed on a rigid bed plate made of wood or iron, to

prevent the machine from vibrating when it starts running; this will have an

effect on the accuracy of its operation.

3 Please use a leveller to level off the lathe while installing it.

4 All parts must be cleaned with gasoline or coal oil.

5 Fully fill up the lubricating holes and the lubricating surfaces at different

parts of the machine tool with lube, check all the operating hands to see

whether the tightness is proper of the longitudinal travel of saddle and the

transverse movements of carriage, otherwise making adjustment with plug

iron.

6 Before the start-up of the machine tool, you must make a thorough check

over all the electric parts of the motor so as to avoid the current leakage

and any other accidents because of the damage of electric circuit during the

transportation.

7 Please check the tringle belt pulley to see whether the tightness is proper,

otherwise making an adjustment with the middle belt pulley.

8 On the first starting of test run, you should select the lowest step of running

speed and start the machine tool to run for 20 minutes to see if there is any

unusual phenomenon with it, if there is not, you can increase the running

speed gradually.

7. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

Regular maintenance will increase durability and reliability.

▪ Change the lube inside the headstock at least once a year.

▪ Every day, before setting to work, you should fill up the lubricating holes at

different parts of the lathe with machine oil.

▪ In use, chips falling onto all the sliding surfaces should be cleaned in time.

▪ After having done the work each day, you must clean out the chip and wipe all

parts of the machine tool, and coat it with machine oil in order to prevent the

machine from rusting.

▪ To change the rotational speed of the spindle box, first of all, you must stop

the machine, and switch it according to the required speed and refering to the

operating position on the indicating plate.

▪ In use, pay attention to avoid the machine oil splashing into the inside of the

motor or onto the triangle belt pulley, or the electric motor and the triangle belt

will be damaged. The triangle belt would be lengthened after being used for a

certain period of time, it’s tightness can be adjusted with the motor slide and

the middle belt pulley.

▪ Do not place any tools, parts and other sundries on the surface of the

guideway so as to avoid the damage to the accuracy of the guideways.

▪ If you want to change the direction of the motor rotation, you must key STOP

firstly.
