General
Unpack the heater carefully and retain the packaging for possible future use, in the
event of moving or returning the f ire to your supplier .
The fire incorporate s a flame effect, which can be used with or without heating, so that
the comforting eff ect may be enjoyed at any time of the year. Using the flame eff ect on
its own only requires little electricity.
Before connecting t he heater che ck that the supply voltage is th e same as that stated
on the heater.
Please note: Used in an environment where background noise is very low, it may
be possible to hear a sound which is related to the operation of the flame effect.
This is normal and should not be a cause for concern.
Electrical connection
W ARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
This heater must be used on an A C ~ supply only and the voltage mar ked on the
heater must correspond to the su pply voltage.
Before switching on, please read the safety warnings and operating instructions.
W all fixing - see Fig. 1
The appliance should be securel y fixed to the wall using the wall plu g and screw
supplied for block walls.
Note - for studded walls special fasteners are req uired, see diagram for recommended
position of fixing screws.
Recessed Installation
Please note that this ap pliance can also be wall-mounted so that it is recessed. This
can be installed in a large fireplace opening or a p urpose built wall. See Tabl e 1 for
size of recess required and hole fixing dimensions.
This fireplace insert does NOT require venti ng.
In order to ensure its future s afety in use, it is essential that this fire is securely
fixed to the wall.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE FIXING DEVICE CHOSEN IS APPROPRIATE TO THE
WALL MATERIAL TO WHICH THE FIRE IS BEIN G FIXED. SOME M ODERN
INTERNAL BUILDING MATERIALS ARE VERY LOW DENSITY BLOCK AND
REQUIRE SPECIALIZED FIXING DEVI CES TO PROVIDE A SAFE, SECURE
INSTALL ATION.
The installation of this fire should be carried out by a competent person. If in doubt
please consult yo ur local builder. This section pr ovides step by step instructions for
selecting a location and preparing th e site to install the firepl ace into the following:
Existing Firepla ce
1. Make sure that the fire is located on a flat surface.
2. Seal all draughts and vents to prevent chimney de bris from falling onto the
Fireplace Insert . Do not install into an existing firepl ace that is prone to da mpness.
3. Remove the front/trim by following the steps as outlined above.
4. Locat e the 4 fixing holes, p osition the fire a ccordingly, and firml y fix the applian ce
to the wall using the appropriate screws.
5. Replace the front/trim.
New Support S tructure Construction
When planning where to position your purpose built support structure the following
steps must be o bserved:
1. Place the fire in the desired location to see how it will look in the room.
2. Mark the desi red location for the new support structure i n the room and store the
fire in a safe, dry and dust fr ee location.
3. Using timber studs to support the fir e, devise and construct a suitable means of
supporting the produ ct within the wall partition and provide electrical power for the
fire to be HARD wired. For re commended sizes of height , width and depth of
opening for recess and hole fixing dimensions for each model:
4. Remove the front/trim by following the steps as outlined above.
5. Locate the 4 fixing holes, posi tion the fire accordin gly, and firmly fix us ing the
appropriate screws.
6. Replace the front/trim.
NOTE: The appliance should be HARD wired to an electrical power o utlet when placed
in a recessed installa tion. Please consult a q ualified electrician for ap propriate wiring
requirements.
Controls - see Fig. 2
Three switches provide a choice of heat sett ings. A switch is in the ON posi tion when
the side with the markings on (i.e. I, I, or II) is pushed in.
Thermostat (T) - see Fig. 2
In order to maintain a certain room temp erature, set the controlle r to ‘max.’. Operate
the appliance at f ull power until the req uired room temperature is rea ched. Set back
the thermostatic controller unt il the appliance switches off with an audible “click”. This
temperature will be kept almost constant by the thermostatic control switching on and
off automatically. Pl ease note that the appliance can only be switche d on when the
thermostat sett ing is higher than the room temperature .
Remote control - see Fig. 7
The maximum range of use is ~ 15metres.
Warning: It takes time for the receiver to respon d to the transmitt er.
Do not press the buttons more than once within two seconds for correct operation.
Battery information - see Fi g. 7
1. Slide open the battery cover on the back of the remote control.
2. Install AAA batteries into the re mote cont rol.
3. Replace the battery cover.
Discard leaky batteries
Dispose of batteries in the prop er manner according to provincial and local regulat ions.
Any battery may leak electrolyte if mixed with a different battery type, if inserted
incorrectly, if all the bat teries are not replaced at the same ti me, if disposed of in a fire,
or if an attempt is made to charge a battery not intended to be recharge d.
Thermal Safety Cut-out
A thermal safe ty cut-out is incorporat ed in the heater to pr event damage due to
overheating. This can happ en if the heat outlet was restri cted in any way. The heater
will switch on once the obstruction has been remo ved and the heater has cooled. If the
cut-out conti nues to operate intermit tently, the hea ter should be switched of f and a
service agent contacted.
Mainten ance
WARNING: ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
ATTEMPTING ANY MAINTENANCE.
Lamp Replacement - See Fig. 3, Fig. 4 and Fig. 5
Remove front cover.
Using a coin edge or screwdriver turn catch 1/4 turn clockwise.
Pull the tray forward, the bulbs can now be replace with a 60W E14 SES Clear Candle
lamp.
Take care not to over-tighten th e lamp.

The fire comes with a reversible trim.
Cleaning
WARNING – ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
CLEANING THE HEATER.
For general cleanin g use a soft clean duster – never use abrasive cleaner s. The glass
viewing screen should be clean ed carefully with a soft clot h. DO NOT use proprietary
glass cleaners.
To remove any accumulation of du st or fluff the soft brush att achment of a vacuum
cleaner should occasionally be used to clean the outl et grille of the fan heater.
Recycling
For electrical p roducts sold within t he European Community.
At the end of the electrical products useful life i t should not be disp osed of with
household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your Local
Authority or retailer for recycling advice in your count ry.
Aft er Sales Service
Should you require afte r sales service or should you need to purchase any spares,
please contact the reta iler from whom the appli ance was purchased or contact the
service number relevant to your country on the warranty card. Please do not return a
faulty product to us i n the first instance as this may resul t in loss or damage and d elay
in providing you with a sat isfactory service. Please retain your receipt as proof of
purchase.
Important Safety Advice:
When using electrical appliances , basic precautions should alway s be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric al shock and injury to persons,
including the following:
If the appliance is damaged, check with the supplier before inst allation and
operation.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not use in the immediate surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming
pool.
Do not locate the heater immediately below a fi xed socket outlet or
connection box.
This appliance is not intended for use by children or other persons without
assist ance or supervision if their physical, se nsory or ment al capabiliti es
prevent them from using it safely . Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with t he appliance.
Do not use this heater in series with a t hermal control, a program controller ,
a timer or any other device that swit ches on the heat automatically , since a
fire risk exist s when the heater is accident ally covered or displac ed.
Ensure that furniture, curt ains or other combustible materi al are positioned
no closer than 1 metre from the heater .
In the event of a fault unplug the heater .
Unplug the heater when not required for l ong periods.
Although this heater complies with safety st andards, we do not recommend
its use on deep pile carpet s or on long h air type of rugs.
The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible.
If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
service a gent or a similarly qualified pers on in order to avoid a hazard.
Keep the supply cord away from the front of the heater.
W ARNING: In order t o avoid overheating, do not cover the heater . Do
not place material or garments on the heater , or obstruct the air
circulation around the heater . The heater carries the Warning symbol
indicating that it must not be covered.
Switch 1 (I) Controls the electricity supply to the heater and flame effect.
Note: This switch must be in the ON (I) position for heater to
operate with or without heat.
