General
Unpack the heater carefully and retain the packaging for possible future use, in the
event of moving or returning the f ire to your supplier .
The fire incorporate s a flame effect, which can be used with or without heating, so that
the comforting eff ect may be enjoyed at any time of the year. Using the flame eff ect on
its own only requires little electricity.
These models are designed to be fre e standing and are normally positioned against a
wall.
Before connecting t he heater check that th e supply voltage is the same as that stated
on the heater.
Please note: Used in an environment where background noise is very low, it may
be possible to hear a sound which is related to the operation of the flame effect.
This is normal and should not be a cause for concern.
Electrical connection
W ARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
This heater must be used on an A C ~ supply only and the voltage mar ked on the
heater must correspon d to the su pply voltage.
Before switching on, please read the safety warnings and operating instructions.
Controls - see Fig. 2

Note: This switch must be pressed before t he heater will operate with or with out heat.

Heat selection
Provides 1kW &2kW heat out put thermostatically co ntrolled. Press button once f or
1kW output & twice for 2kW output. If button is pressed a third time t he heater reverts
to ‘Cold Blow’ function.

Runback timer
The timer provides 15 individual time settings. Each t ime the button is pressed the
heater is programmed t o run for 30 minute s e.g.1 press = 0. 5 hr, 2 presses =1 hou r -
see ‘Timer’.
Tim er
Each time the button is pressed the heater is programmed to run for 30 minutes, which
means it can be set to run from ha lf an hour up to 7.5 hours - see chart below for
settings.
Press timer switch once = 0.5 hour
Press timer switch twice = 1 hour
Press timer switch three times = 1.5 hours
Press timer switch four times = 2 hours

Press timer switch fif teen times = 7.5 hours
Thermostat (T) - see Fig. 2
In order to maintain a certain room t emperature, set the controll er to ‘max.’. Operate
the appliance at ful l power until the requi red room temperature is r eached. Set back
the thermostatic controller until the applian ce switches off with an audible “click”. This
temperature will be ke pt almost constant by the thermosta tic control switching on and
off automatically. Please no te that the appliance can o nly be switched on when the
thermostat setting is higher then t he room temperature.
Flame control knob (F ) - see Fig. 2
By using the flame control knob, the bright ness of the flame effect can be changed. At
min.-setting (indicated by a small bulb) the brightness of the flame effe ct will be lowest.
Clockwise rotation of knob will increase the intensity of the fla me effect.
LED indicators - see Fig. 6
Red LED’s (neons) will be visible on the right han d side of the heater indicating t he
selected functi on.
For example when 1kW heat is selected , you will see the ON/OFF – LED and the 1kW
- LED illuminated .
Or as another example, if the runba ck timer is set to 6.5 hours, the first , the second
and the fourth LED of the timer i ndicators will be illuminated (4 hours + 2 hours + 0.5
hour = 6.5 hours).
Remote control - see Fig. 7
The maximum range of use is ~ 15 metres.
The buttons on the re mote control have the same f unction as the switches on the
heater.
For details on the function p lease refer to the ‘Controls’ section i n this instruction
leaflet.
Warning: It take s time for the receiver to respond to t he transmitter.
Do not press the buttons more than once within two seconds for correct operation.
Battery information - see Fig. 7
1. Slide open the battery cover on the back of the remote control.
2. Install AAA batteries into the re mote cont rol.
3. Replace the battery cover.
Discard leaky batteries
Dispose of batteries in the prop er manner according to provincial and local regulat ions.
Any battery may leak electrolyte if mixed with a different battery type, if inserted
incorrectly, if all the bat teries are not replaced at the same ti me, if disposed of in a fire,
or if an attempt is made to charge a battery not intended to be recharge d.
Thermal Safety Cut-out
A thermal safe ty cut-out is incorporated in the heater to pr event damage due to
overheating. This can happ en if the heat outlet was restrict ed in any way. The heater
will switch on once the obstruction has been remo ved and the heater has cooled. If the
cut-out conti nues to operate intermit tently, the heater should be switched off and a
service agent contacted.
Mainten ance
WARNING: ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
ATTEMPTING ANY MAINTENANCE.
Lamp Replacement - see Fig. 3, Fig. 4 and Fig. 5
The lamps are located behind the back pa nel. To gain access to the lamps, th e screws
indicated in Fig. 3 which secure the back panel, must be removed.
Remove and sli de out panel as indicated on Fig. 4.
Remove the def ective lamp by unscre wing it as shown in Fig .5 .
Replace with a 60W E14 SES Clear candle lamp. Take care not to over-tighten the
lamp.
Refit the back panel and secure with the screws.
Cleaning
WARNING – ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
CLEANING THE HEATER.
For general cleanin g use a soft clean duster – never use abrasive cleaner s. The glass
viewing screen should be clean ed carefully with a soft cloth. DO NOT use proprietary
glass cleaners.
To remove any accumulation of du st or fluff the soft brush att achment of a vacuum
cleaner should occasionally be used to clean the outl et grille of the fan heater.

Should you require afte r sales service or should you need to purchase any spares,
please contact the reta iler from whom the appli ance was purchased or contact the
service number relevant to your country on the warranty card. Please do not return a
faulty product to us i n the first instance as this may resul t in loss or damage and d elay
in providing you with a sat isfactory service. Please retain your receipt as proof of
purchase.
Important Safety Advice
When using electrical appliances , basic precautions should alway s be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric al shock and injury to persons,
including the following:
If the appliance is damaged, check with the supplier before inst allation and
operation.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not use in the immediate surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming
pool.
Do not locate the heater immediately below a fi xed socket outlet or
connection box.
Do not cover the heater . Do not place materi al or garments on the heater , or
obstruct the air circulation around the heater , for inst ance by curtains or
furniture, as this could cause overheati ng and a fire risk.
This appliance is not intended for use by children or other persons without
assist ance or supervision if their physical, se nsory or mental capabiliti es
prevent them from using it safely . Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with t he appliance.
Do not use this heater in series with a t hermal control, a program controller ,
a timer or any other device that switches on the heat automatically , since a
fire risk exist s when the heater is accident ally covered or displac ed.
Ensure that furniture, curt ains or other combustible material are positioned
no closer than 1 metre from the heater .
In the event of a fault unplug the heater .
Unplug the heater when not required for l ong periods.
Although this heater complies with safety st andards, we do not recommend
its use on deep pile carpet s or on lo ng hair type of rugs.
The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible.
If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
service agen t or a similarly qua lified person in ord er to avoid a hazard.
Keep the supply cord away from the front of the heater.
