General
Unpack the heater carefully and retain the packaging for possible future use, in the
event of moving or returning the fire to your sup plier.
The fire incorporate s a flame effect, which can be used with or without heating, so th at
the comforting eff ect may be enjoyed at any time of the year. Using the flame effect on
its own only requires little electricity.
These models are designed to be fre e standing and are normal ly positioned against a
wall.
Before connecting t he heater che ck that the supply voltag e is the same as that stated
on the heater.
Please note: Used in an environment where background noise is very low, it may
be possible to hear a sound which is related to the operation of the flame effect.
This is normal and should not be a cause for concern.
Electrical connection
W ARNING – THIS APPL IANCE MUST BE EARTHED
This heater must be used on an A C ~ supply only and the voltage mar k ed on the
heater must correspond to the su pply voltage.
Before switching on, please read the safety warnings and operating instructions.
W all fixing - see Fig. 1
The appliance should be securel y fixed to the wall using the wall plu g and screw
supplied for block walls.
Note - for studded walls special fasteners are req uired, see diagram for recommended
position of fixing screws.
Controls - see Fi g. 2
Three switches provide a choice o f heat settings. The appliance is in standby mode
when the mains lead is plugged in. The two selector switches are in t he ON position
when the side with the markings on (i.e. I, or II ) are pushed in.
Stand-by Switch 1 Controls the electricity supply to the heater and flame
effect.
(Remote Control - 1/0) Press once to operate the pro duct and press again to
return to 'Standby' mode (Alternatively use the Remo te
Control).
If both selector switches 2 and 3 are in the OFF position,
the product works on flame effect only.
Selector Switch 2 (I) Provides 750W heat outp ut.
Selector Switch 3 (II) Provides 1500W output with Switch 2.

The maximum range of use is ~ 15metres.
Warning: It takes time for the receiver to respond t o the transmitter.
Do not press the buttons more than once within two seconds for correct operation .
Battery information - see Fig. 6
1. Slide open the battery cover on the back of the remote contr ol.
2. Install AAA batteries into the remote control.
3. Replace the battery cover.
Discard leaky batteries
Dispose of batteries in the prop er manner according to provincial and local re gulations.
Any battery may leak electrolyte if mixed with a different battery type, if inserted
incorrectly, if all the bat teries are not replaced at the same ti me, if disposed of in a fire,
or if an attempt is made to charge a battery not intended to be recharged.
Thermal Safety Cut-out
The built-in overhe at cut-out switches of the appliance automa tically in the event of a
fault! Switch off the appliance or disco nnect the mains plug fr om the socket. After a
short cooling down phase, the ap pliance is ready for use again! If the fault should
occur again, see you r local dealer!
WARNING: In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-
out, this appliance must not be supplied t hrough an external switching device, such as
a timer, or connected to a circuit that is r egularly switched on and off by the utility.
Mainten ance
WARNING: ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
ATTEMPTING ANY MAINTENANCE.
Lamp Replacement - see Fig. 3, Fig. 4 and Fig. 5
The lamps are located behind the back pa nel. To gain access to the lamps, th e screws
indicated in Fig. 3 which secure the back panel, must be removed.
Remove and slide out panel as indicated on Fig. 4.
Remove the defective lamp by unscrewing it as shown in Fig .5.
Replace with a 60W E14 SES Clear candle lamp. Take care not to over-tighten t he
lamp.
Refit the back panel and secure with the screws.
Cleaning
WARNING – ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
CLEANING THE HEATER.
For general cleanin g use a soft clean duster – never use abrasive cle aners. The glass
viewing screen should be clean ed carefully with a soft clot h. DO NOT use proprietary
glass cleaners.
To remove any accumulation of du st or fluff the soft brush attachment of a vacuum
cleaner should occasionally be used to clean the outl et grille of the fan heater.
It is possible to clean the inne r glass and logset by removing the outer glass panel. To
remove the outer glass, remove the 4 scre ws holding the grille in position , (see Fig.7),
remove the grille and lift clear the outer glass.
Refit the outer glass in revers e of abov e.
WARNING: do not operate the product without the grille and outer glass in
position as this may effect the operation of the heater.
Recycling
For electrical p roducts sold within t he European Communit y.
At the end of the electrical products useful lif e it should not be di sposed of with
household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your Local
Authority or retailer for recycling advice in your count ry.
Aft er Sales Service
Should you require afte r sales service or should you need to purchase any spares,
please contact the reta iler from whom the appli ance was purchased or contact the
service number relevant to your country on the warranty card. Please do not return a
faulty product to us i n the first instance as th is may result in loss or damage a nd delay
in providing you with a sat isfactory service. Please reta in your receipt as proof of
purchase.
Important Safety Advice:
When using electrical appliances , basic precautions should alway s be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric al shock and injury to persons,
including the following:
If the appliance is damaged, check with the supplier before inst allation and
operation.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not use in the immediate surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming
pool.
Do not locate the heater immediately below a fi xed socket outlet or
connection box.
This appliance is not intended for use by children or other persons without
assist ance or supervision if their physical , sensory or ment al capabi lities
prevent them from using it safely . Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with t he appliance.
Do not use this heater in series with a t hermal control, a program controller ,
a timer or any other device that swit ches on the heat automatically , since a
fire risk exist s when the heater is accidentally covered or dis placed.
This heater is not equipped with a device to control the room temperature.
Do not use this heater in small rooms w hen they are occupied by persons
not capab le of leaving the room on their own, unless const ant supervision is
provided
Ensure that furniture, curt ains or other combustible material ar e positioned
no closer than 1 metre from the heater .
In the event of a fault unplug the heater .
Unplug the heater when not required for l ong periods.
Although this heater complies with safety st andards, we do not recommend
its use on deep pile carpet s or on long h air type of rugs.
The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible.
If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
service a gent or a similarly qualified pers on in order to avoid a hazard.
Keep the supply cord away from the front of the heater.
W ARNING: In order to avoid overheating, do not cov er the heater . Do
not place material or garments on the heater , or obstruct the air
circulation around the heater . The heater carries the W arning symbol
indicating that it must not be covered.
