PRIOR TO FIRST USE
• Unrollthecordfullybeforeuse.
• Torinseouttheinside,llthereservoir(1)with
water, switch on and allow the water to run through
the appliance, before using it to make coffee.
USING THE APPARATUS
1. Flip open the cover for the water reservoir and the
lter(2)andcarefullypourtherequiredamountof
water into the water reservoir. Close the lid again.
o Fill the water reservoir using the glass pot. Do
notpourmorethantheequivalentof12cupsof
coffee (marked 12 on the water level indicator on
theglasspot(10)).
2. Placealter(size1x4)inthelterfunnel(3),and
put coffee into it. Alternatively, use the permanent
lter(4)insteadofdisposablelters.Closethelid
again.
3. Ensure that the lid (6) for the glass pot is down and
then place the pot (8) on the hotplate (9) beneath the
lterfunnel.
4. Switch on the appliance by switching the on/off
button (11) to ”I”. The control light in the switch is lit
and the appliance starts working.
o You can remove the glass pot during brewing to
pouracup.Theautomaticanti-dripdevice(5)
ensuresthatcoffeedoesnotdripfromthelter
onto the hotplate. As soon as you replace the
glass pot brewing will resume. Make sure you
putthepotbackwithin30secondsorless,as
otherwisethelterfunnelcouldoverow.
o Always make sure the lid on the glass pot is
closed,otherwisetheanti-dripdevicedoesnot
work correctly.
5. Once the coffee is ready, the hotplate under the
glass pot will keep it hot.
6. Switchoffbypushingtheon/offbuttontothe”0”
position.
o Theapparatusisttedwithanoverheating
cut-outwhichautomaticallyswitchesitoffifyou
forget.
CLEANING
When cleaning the appliance, you should pay attention
to the following points:
• Removeplugfromthemainssocket,andallowthe
appliance to cool down before cleaning it.
• Donotimmersetheapplianceinwaterandmake
sure no water enters the appliance.
• Cleantheappliancebywipingitwithadampcloth.
A little detergent can be added if the appliance is
heavily soiled.
• Neveruseascouringpadoranyformofstrong
solvents or abrasive cleaning agents to clean
the appliance, as those may damage the outside
surfaces of the appliance.
• Thelterfunnel,thepermanentlterandtheglass
pot can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher.
• IMPORTANT!Allowtodryfullyaftercleaningbefore
using again. Do not use the appliance if damp.
DESCALING
The lime content of ordinary tap water means limescale
may gradually be deposited inside. This limescale may
be loosened using acetic acid (NOT ordinary vinegar) or
descaler, available in supermarkets, etc.
1. Mix100mlaceticacidwith300mlcoldwater,or
follow the instructions on the descaler packaging.
2. Pour the solution into the reservoir and switch on
the apparatus using the on/off button.
3. Allow half of the solution to run through, and then
switch off using the on/off button.
4. Switchoffforaround10minutes,andthenswitch
on again, and allow the rest of the solution to run
through.
5. Toremovethenalresiduesoflimescaleandacetic
acid, pour a potful of cold water into the water
reservoir, switch on and allow the water to pass
through.
6. Run fresh water through the appliance 3 times (as
described in point 5). The apparatus now ready for
use.

or BSI approved to BS1362 and with a rated current of
13ampsshouldbeused.Ifthereisafusecovertted,
thiscovermustberettedafterchangingthefuse.If
the fuse cover is lost or damaged, the plug must not be
used. You must also check if the socket outlets in your
hometwiththeplugoftheappliance.Ifthesocket
outletinyourhomedoesnottwiththeplug,theplug
must be removed and disposed of safely as insertion
of the plug into the socket is likely to cause electric
hazard.Areplacementplugshouldbewiredaccording
to following description.
Important
This appliance must be earthed. The wires in the cord
set are coloured thus:
BLUE- Neutral, Brown-Live, Green& Yellow-earth

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your
plug, proceed as follows:
ThewirethatiscolouredGreen&Yellowmustbe
connected to the terminal in the plug that is marked
with the letter E or by the earth symbol, or coloured
green&yellow.
The wire that is coloured blue must be connected to
the terminal that is marked with the letter N or coloured
black.
The wire that is couloured brown must be connected to
the terminal that is marked with the letter L or coloured
red.
