General
Unpack the heater carefully and retain the packaging for possible future use, in the
event of moving or returning the f ire to your supplier .
The fire incorporate s a flame effect, which can be used with or without heating, so that
the comforting eff ect may be enjoyed at any time of the year. Using the flame eff ect on
its own only requires little electricity.
Before connecting the heater check that the suppl y voltage is the same as that stated
on the heater.
Please note: Used in an environment where background noise is very low, it may
be possible to hear a sound which is related to the operation of the flame effect.
This is normal and should not be a cause for concern.
Electrical connection
W ARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
This heater must be used on an A C ~ supply only and the voltage mar ked on the
heater must correspond to the su pply voltage.
Before switching on, please read the safety warnings and operating instructions.
Inst allation - see Fig. 1
Ensure when building your fi re into the surround that the front glass can be removed
at all times (refer to ' Lamp Replacement section') as when this is removed it allows the
customer to change the bulbs and in the unlikely event tha t a service engineer needs
to access the interior components of the fire.
The fire also has adjusta ble feet, these are to adjust the fire if the floor surface is not
level. The fire can be mounted in 2 posit ions, depending on which type of surround the
fire is to be used with.
• Type I - The fire i s fixed from the front. (i.e. whe n the surround is made of
wood) The 4 fixing brackets need to be fixed to th e front of the fire, using t he
screws provided. There are slots in the se brackets to allow for adjustment of
the fire in position. Please use 4 suitable wood screws to f irmly fix the fire to
the surround.
• Type II - The fire is fixed to a wall . (i.e. when the surrou nd is not made of wood)
The 4 fixing brackets need to be fixed to the rear o f the fire, using the screws
provided. There are slots in these bracke ts to allow for adjustment of the fire
in position. Please use suitabl e wall plugs and screws to firmly fix the fire to
the wall.
Controls - see Fig 2
The main ON/OFF switch must first be turned ON to operate any of the other controls.
To increase or decrease the brightness of the fl ame effect use the / button shown
in Fig. 2 .

The maximum range of use is ~ 15 metres.
For details on the function please ref er to the 'Controls' section in this instruction
leaflet.
Warning: It takes time for the receiver to respond t o the transmitter.
Do not press the buttons more than once within two seconds for correct operation.
Battery information - see Fig. 1
1. Slide open the battery cover on th e back of the remote control
2. Install AAA batteries int o the remote control
3. Replace the batter y cover.
Discard leaky batteries
Dispose of batteries in the proper manner accordi ng to provincial and local regulations.
Any battery may leak electrolyte if mixed with a different battery type, if inserted
incorrectly, if all the bat teries are not replaced at the same ti me, if disposed of in a fire,
or if an attempt is made to charge a battery not intended to be recharge d.
Thermal Safety Cut-out
A thermal safe ty cut-out is incorporated in the heater to pr event damage due to
overheating. This can happ en if the heat outlet was restri cted in any way. The heater
will switch on once the obstruction has been remo ved and the heater has cooled. If the
cut-out conti nues to operate intermit tently, the hea ter should be switched off and a
service agent contacted.
Mainten ance
WARNING: ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
ATTEMPTING ANY MAINTENANCE.
Lamp Replacement - see Fig. 3, Fig. 4 and Fi g. 5
TTo gain access to t he lamps first slide the outer glass up using the su ction cups and
then lift the glass out fro m the bottom and slide it out - see Fig. 3 .
Remove the fuel ef fect from the fire by removing t he fixing screws from the fuel bed
and sliding out th e fuel effect - see Fig. 4 .
Remove the rotisserie by carefully sl iding the rubber connector of the mot or shaft - see
Fig. 5.
Remove the defective lamp by unscrewing it as shown in Fig. 5 .
Replace with a 60W E14 SES Clear Candle lamp. Take care not to over-tighten the
lamp.
Refit the rotisserie , fuel bed and t he outer glass.
Suction Cups - see Fig. 6
Place the suction cups onto the outer gla ss and close the handles together as shown
in Fig. 6 .
Cleaning
WARNING – ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
CLEANING THE HEATER.
For general cleaning use a soft clean duster - never u se abrasive cleaners. The glass
viewing screen should be clean ed carefully with a soft clot h. DO NOT use proprietary
glass cleaners.
To remove any accumulation of du st or fluff the soft brush att achment of a vacuum
cleaner should occasionally be used to clean the outl et grille of the fan heater.
Recycling
For electrical p roducts sold within t he European Community.
At the end of the electrical products useful life i t should not be disp osed of with
household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with your Local
Authority or retailer for recycling advice in your count ry.
Aft er Sales Service
Should you require afte r sales service or should you need to purchase any spares,
please contact the reta iler from whom the appli ance was purchased or contact the
service number relevant to your country on the warranty card. Please do not return a
faulty product to us i n the first instance as this may resul t in loss or damage and d elay
in providing you with a sat isfactory service. Please retain your receipt as proof of
purchase.
Important Safety Advice:
When using electrical appliances , basic precautions should alway s be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric al shock and injury to persons,
including the following:
If the appliance is damaged, check with the supplier before inst allation and
operation.
Do not use outdoors.
Do not use in the immediate surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming
pool.
Do not locate the heater immediately below a fi xed socket outlet or
connection box.
This appliance is not intended for use by children or other persons without
assist ance or supervision if their physical, se nsory or ment al capabiliti es
prevent them from using it safely . Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with t he appliance.
Do not use this heater in series with a t hermal control, a program controller ,
a timer or any other device that swit ches on the heat automatically , since a
fire risk exist s when the heater is accident ally covered or displac ed.
Ensure that furniture, curt ains or other combustible materi al are positioned
no closer than 1 metre from the heater .
In the event of a fault unplug the heater .
Unplug the heater when not required for l ong periods.
Although this heater complies with safety st andards, we do not recommend
its use on deep pile carpet s or on long h air type of rugs.
The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible.
If the supply cord is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or
service a gent or a similarly qualified pers on in order to avoid a hazard.
Keep the supply cord away from the front of the heater.
W ARNING: In order t o avoid overheating, do not cover the heater . Do
not place material or garments on the heater , or obstruct the air
circulation around the heater . The heater carries the Warning symbol
indicating that it must not be covered.
