Tips on Removing Air from a Bag
Avoid wrinkles when inserting the bag into the
Vacuum Channel (E).

inse rti ng b ag i nto the vac uum cha nne l (E ), h old b ag w ith

bag open and vacuum seal again.
If motor runs for more than 30 seconds without
stopping, consider the following:

Roll”). Check foam gasket around Drip Tray to make sure
it is fre e fr om f ood mat eri al a nd i s pr ope rly ins erte d in to

Tips on Sealing a Bag
When making a bag from a roll:
Press the Seal Button (C) before placing bag material into
the Vacuum Channel (E). Once bag in inserted the Seal
process will begin immediately.
Note: If you forget to press the Seal Button (C) before
inserti ng the bag into the Vacuum Channe l (E), the vacuum
pump will turn on, this is not a problem, simply press the
Seal Button to prevent the pump from running
continuously,and the sealing process will begin.
How to Prevent moisture or liquid from being pulled into
the Drip Tray (N) or getting trapped in the seal:

betw een food an d end of bag to absor b exc ess li qui ds. Be
sure to leave at least 3 inches betw een pa per towel and end
of bag so that bag se als pr ope rly wi th pa per to wel insid e
and is not positioned in between the seal area.
Make sure appliance has time to cool down.
Wait at l eas t 20 sec ond s be twe en s eal s. U nde r ve ry
heav y usage, appliance will stop operating to prevent
overheating. If it does, wait 20 minutes to allow appliance
to cool off.

Tips for Successful Vacuum Sealing
1. Vacuum seali ng is NOT a sub stit ute for the heat proce ss
of can nin g. Per ish able s sti ll nee d to be refri ger ated or
frozen.

3. During the vacuum sealing process, small amounts of
liquids, crumbs or food particles can be inadvertently
pulled into Drip Tray (O), clogging the pump and dam-
aging your appliance.
To prevent this, follow these tips:
a. For mois t and ju icy foods : Fre eze fi rst and avo id
over fil lin g bags . You ca n als o plac e a fold ed pa per
towe l ins ide to p of bag , and below seal area, befo re
vacuum sealing.
b. For soup s, sau ces and liq uid s: Fre eze first and av oid
overfilling bags. Or, use a canister in refrigerator.
c. For powd ery or fine -gra ine d food s: Av oid ov erf ill ing
bags or use a canis ter. You ca n also plac e a coff ee
filter or paper towel inside before vacuum packaging.
d. Empty Drip Tray (N) after each use.
4. To avoid overf ill ing, alwa ys lea ve at least 3 inche s of bag
mate ria l betw een bag con ten ts and top of bag. Th en
leav e at le ast on e addi tio nal inch of bag mat eri al for
each time you plan to reuse bag.
5. Do not create your own side seams for a FoodSaver

bran d Bag . Our ba gs are manu fact ure d wit h a spec ial
side seam, which is sealed all the way to the outer edge.
6. To preve nt wri nkl es in a se al whe n vac uum se ali ng bul ky
items, gently stretch bag flat while inserting into the
vacuum channel and hold until pump begins.
7. If you are un sur e your bag was seal ed pro per ly, simpl y
reseal bag.
8. When you are vacuum sealing items with sharp edges
(dry spag hett i, si lver war e, et c.), prot ect ba g from
punctures by wrapping item in soft cushioning material,
such as a pape r tow el. Yo u may want to use a can ist er or
Mason jar instead of a bag.
9. When usi ng acc ess orie s, re memb er to leave one inc h of
spac e at to p of can iste r or co ntai ner .

11. If appl ianc e doe s not fu ncti on, or Seal butt on (C)
flashes to signal ERROR:
a. Check po wer co rd to se e if it is firm ly plu gge d into
an electrical outlet.
b. Examine power cord for any damages.
c. See if elec tri cal outle t is wor kin g by plu ggi ng in
another appliance.
d. Check to be certain the Upper Bag Detection Tray (O)
is properly inserted.
e. Make sur e bag is place d cor rect ly in side Vacu um

f. Check to ensur e Rele ase Butto ns ( J ) ar e prop erl y
latched.

h. Check Upper Gasket (P) around Upper Bag Detection
Tray (O) to be sure it is free from food material.
i. If overheated, allow appliance to cool for 20 minutes.

Vacuum Sealing System has a special
Quick Marinate Cycle which will last about ten minutes.
The vacuum motor will “hold” the vacuum for several
minutes then release the vacuum allowing the food to
“rest” for 30 seconds. This process will then repeat
two more times. This “Pulsing” action of “vacuuming
and r est ing ” wi ll a llo w fo r qu ick er m ari nati ng. Whe n th e

beep to signal marinating is complete.

Canister with clear lid and large white knob. During the
Quic k Mari nate Cycle , make sur e knob on acce sso ry lid
is set to OPEN. Do not set knob to Vacuum. The Vacuum
position on the knob will allow the Quick Marinating
Canister to be used for extending vacuum storage.
