Safe Use Summary
HEALTH & SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING: All users of the Freey VR headset should read these instrucons
carefully before using the headset. Failure to follow these instrucons may result
in serious injury. Save these instrucons.
Suitability
Virtual reality is not suitable for everyone. Use of virtual reality equipment can cause dizzi-
ness, disorientaon and other symptoms. If you have any doubt whether it is safe for you to
use virtual reality products, please consult your doctor.
In general, use of the Freey VR is NOT SUITABLE for those who are pregnant, have high
blood pressure, suer from moon sickness, inner ear infecons or claustrophobia, had any
form of recent surgery, pre-exisng binocular vision abnormalies, heart condions, psy-
chosis or epilepc symptoms or aacks or any other physiological or psychological disorder
which may trigger any dangerous emoons, behaviour or aacks resulng in structural
damage, physical damage or death.
You should CONSULT A DOCTOR before using the Freey VR if:
You have ever had, or currently live with, symptoms of epilepsy such as severe dizziness,
blackouts, seizures or loss of awareness should see a doctor before using the Freey VR. The
content viewed through the Freey VR may include ashing images and repeve sequences,
which could cause seizures, even in those who have never experienced seizures in the past;
or if you wear an implanted medical device such as a pacemaker, as the smartphone used in-
side may emit radio waves which could interfere with the normal operaons of such devices.
Minors
It is the responsibility of an adult supervisor to monitor use of the Freey VR by children
(age 14-18). The Freey VR is not recommended for use below the age of 14 due to possible
impacts on hand-eye coordinaon, balance and mul-tasking ability. The Freey VR has
a number of small parts held in place by 6 screws. Ensure that these are not loosened or
undone so that the small parts present a choking hazard for young children.
The user should NOT take the product apart and we bear no responsibility for liability nor
product guarantee if user undoes the screws.
Safe Use
When using the Freey VR, your vision is 100% obscured and when using headphones, your
capacity to hear what is happening in your surroundings is reduced. Therefore, it is your
responsibility to ensure you use the Freey VR in a safe secure environment free of nearby
obstrucons. We recommend using the Freey VR in an oce chair which can freely rotate
360 degrees.

For your safety, when using the Freey VR, DO NOT:
Use in environments that may need your immediate aenon;
Use in the proximity of small children.
When using the Freey VR, DO:
Remain seated at all mes;
Use the Freey VR indoors only. If using on public transport, remain seated and keep the
audio volume low enough to hear any emergency announcements;
Use in an open space, where there are no potenally dangerous items such as sharp objects,
balconies, stairwells and furnishings that are easy to break;
Take a 10 minute break every 10 minutes by removing the headset;
Allow for a minimum of 30 minutes aer using the Freey VR before operang any machin-
ery or driving any vehicle;
Keep the volume of your headphones at a safe level. Prolonged periods of loud noise can
lead to ear damage including reduced or loss of hearing and nnitus;
Ensure your smartphone is aligned correctly by following the alignment process on the app.
To avoid visual conict and visually triggered symptoms such as headaches and nausea; and
Keep the Freey VR away from direct sunlight, to avoid a re hazard caused by the lenses.
DO STOP using the Freey VR immediately if you experience: seizures; loss of awareness; eye
strain; eye or muscle twitching; involuntary movements; altered, blurred, or double vision or
other visual abnormalies; dizziness; disorientaon; impaired balance; impaired hand-eye
coordinaon; excessive sweang; increased salivaon; nausea; lightheadedness; discomfort
or pain in the head or eyes; drowsiness; fague; or any symptoms similar to moon sickness.
DO NOT drive, operate machinery, or engage in other visually or physically demanding
acvies that have potenally serious consequences (i.e., acvies in which experiencing any
symptoms could lead to death, personal injury, or damage to property), or other acvies
that require unimpaired balance and hand-eye coordinaon (such as playing sports or riding
a bicycle, etc.) unl you have fully recovered from any symptoms.
DO NOT in any circumstances use the Freey VR if you are under the inuence of drugs in-
cluding alcohol; suering the aer eects of using drugs including alcohol; suering a gastric
illness or virus; suering from stress or are over-red; or any other physiological or psycho-
logical disorder which may trigger any dangerous emoons, behaviour or aacks resulng in
structural damage, physical damage or death.
SOFTWARE AND CONTENT
Software
With the excepon of Freey VR produced content, Proteus VR Labs Ltd accepts no respon-
sibility for risk associated with smartphones, tablets or phablets or any connecng audio
devices or controllers or other peripheral devices used in combinaon with the Freey VR.
Freey VR also accepts no responsibility for third party content, either downloaded directly
from a publisher’s portal or their distribuon portal, linked to from the Freey VR website or
a direct download from the Freey VR website.
Freey VR Produced Content
By downloading and purchasing Freey VR produced content you accept the following:
You are of a suitable age to view the content based on the age rang it has been awarded.
That content of an adult nature is not promoted to, distributed to, or shared with people
not of a suitable age. Certain tles may contain elements of horror and will not be suitable
for people of a nervous disposion. You will be required to read and agree to the content
warnings before downloading and/or purchasing such tles.

Step 1: Smartphone Requirements
a. The Freey VR is compable with iOS and Android smartphones. For an
up-to-date list of recommended smartphones visit

b. For the best experiences, we recommend smartphones with large screen sizes
and powerful processors. For opmum results we recommend 120mm x 70mm;
c. Smartphone size: the device can only t devices up to 150mm x 95mm and no
deeper than 10mm. The Freey VR will not t smartphones smaller than
135mm x 50mm;
d. Before ng your smartphone to the Freey VR we suggest removing any
accessories, such as protecve casings.
Step 2: Scan the QR code
a. Load up your App store (like Play Store, Apple App Store or
Windows Store), search for a ‘QR-scanner’, install and open. For
Android we can recommend ‘QR code reader’ and for Apple de ‘QR Code
Reader and Scanner’;
b. Scan the Freey VR QR code shown on the boom of page 10. This is the same
QR-code as the one on the sleeve around the black carry box. On the top of
page 10 is shown how to scan a QR code;
c. Aer scanning the QR code you will be linked to the Freey VR website. Follow
the instrucons which will take you through the process of aligning your
smartphone in the Freey VR headset. The purspose is to center your phone
horizontally and vercally so you won’t see cross-eyed if you use the headset;
d. Aer the alignment process click on the orange buon ‘Cardboard App’ and
install the App. On page 11 you will nd more detailed informaon;
e. Download more VR Apps and experience Virtual Reality!

b. Scan the QR code below to link to the Freey VR website and begin with the
calibraon of your smartphone. Aer this process click on the orange buon
called ‘Cardboard App’. If prompted, open in ‘Google Play’ or in Apple ‘App store’.
Step 2: Scan the QR code (cont.)
a. To scan a QR code rst open your QR scanner app. Adjust your phone so the
camera is focussed on the code, and it lls the specied area. You do not need to
take a photo, once the app detects the code, it will automacally take you to the
app, or you rst need to choose ‘open link’.
c. In the ‘Cardboard App’ you will be asked to scan the unique QR code of your
headset, to be able to calibratethe apps to your headset. Scan the unique Freey
VR QR code below. If you get a message saying ‘connecon error’ check your
internet connecon, go one step back and try again. If successful you will get the
message ‘Viewer Idened’.

Step 3: Calibrate your Smartphone on the Freey VR Cradle
a. Open the Freey VR by pulling the release handle towards you to unlock the
device & open the main housing;
b. Push the buon on the front of the device to fully open the Freey VR’s support
arms;

c. Place your smartphone in the device as shown and align the horizontal axis of
the screen with the orange lines on the sliders of the Freey VR;
d. Push the support arms (4 foam blocks) into the sides of the smartphone, so the
phone is rmly locked;

e. Check that the vercal axis of the phone screen is in line with the orange line
on the main housing (the orange line in between the lenses). If not, then loosen
the two screws behind (watch out, don’t completely loosen the screws unl
they fall out!), and slide the whole plasc device le or right to align. Tighten the
screws aer aligning.
Step 4: Setup your Smartphone
a. Adjust the posion of the 4 foam blocks to avoid blocking a headphone or USB
port. (Loosen and ghten the screws accordingly);
b. Close the main housing of the Freey VR by pulling the release handle towards
yourself, and lowering the main housing onto your smartphone;
c. Ensure your smartphone is secured. Make sure the latch is properly engaged
and the smartphone cannot move around. The Freey VR should be rmly
locked to your smartphone, but not so ght it causes damage to
your smartphone.

Step 5: Fit the Freey VR to your Head
Adjust the strap so the Freey VR ts comfortably to your head. TIP: To reduce fogging, heat
the lenses with a hairdryer for 15 seconds prior to use (don’t hold the hairdryer too close!).
