LOADING THE BATTERY AND THE MEDIA

Checking the battery charge

Turn the camera on and check the battery level indicator on the LCD monitor.

1There is ample battery charge.

2The battery is almost half charged.

3There is insufficient charge left in the battery.

The battery will soon run out. Have a new

battery ready.

4The battery is depleted. The display will shortly

go blank and the camera will stop working.

Replace or recharge the battery.

“Z”, “E” or “Ã” appears as a small icon on

the left-hand side of the LCD monitor.

Depending on the camera mode, the transition from “Ã” to

“

V” may occur more quickly.

●

Due to the nature of the battery, the battery level indicator

(

E, Ã or V) may appear early when the camera is

used in cold locations. This is normal. Try warming the

battery in your pocket or a similar location before use.

“V” appears as a large icon in the center of the

LCD monitor.

CHARGING THE BATTERY

1Plug the connection cable into the AC power

adapter.

2Plug the AC power adapter into a power outlet.

Always use the FUJIFILM products listed on the above.

See P.101 for notes on using the AC power adapter.

The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and

shall be easily accessible.

The shape of the plug and socket-outlet depends on the

country of use.

Auto power off function

◆

When the Auto power off function is active and the camera is left unused for 2 or 5 minutes, the

function turns the camera off (➡P.82). To turn the camera back on, press the “POWER” button. To play

back images, hold down the “

w” button for about 1 second.

2Plug the AC power adapter connector into the

“DC IN 5V” socket.

The self-timer lamp lights and battery charging

begins. When charging is completed, the self-timer

lamp turns off.

At an ambient temperature of +21°C to +25°C

(+70°F to +77°F)

NP-40: approx. 2 hours

Charging times increase at low temperatures.

●

If the self-timer lamp blinks during charging, a charging error

has occurred and the battery cannot be charged (➡P.105).

●

Turning the camera on during charging interrupts the

charging.

●

Use the BC-65 Battery Charger (sold separately) to charge

battery more quickly (➡P.99).

Charging the battery

When you try to charge the battery immediately after the camera has been used continuously for a long

period (e.g. shooting a movie or connected to a PC), charging may not begin soon (the self-timer lamp

does not light).

This is not a camera fault, but is for protecting the battery from being charged while it is warm. Battery

may degrade when charged at high temperatures.

Leave the camera connected to the AC power adapter, and charging will automatically begin within 30

minutes.
