Software functions and mechanical locking offer a broad range of functions for protecting your device
and your personal data against theft and u nauthorised access. You can also combine these funct ions.
BIOS Setup security functions
The Security menu in the BIOS Setup offers you various options for protecting your
personal data against unauthorized access, e.g.:
• Prevent unauthorised access to the syste m

Before using the various options for p assword protection in the BIOS Setu p utility
to increase data security, please observe the following:
Make a note of passwords and keep them in a safe place. If you fo rget your supervisor
password you will no longer be able to access your device. Deleting passwords is
not covered by your warranty and a charge will be made fo r assistance.

tinction is made between uppercase and lowercase.
Using the SmartC
ard reader (device d ependent)

Whether your device ha s a SmartC ard reader depends on the
device variant you have ordered.
The SmartC ard reader allow s access to be limited to only those users that
have an appropriate SmartCard .
SmartCards are not supplied as standard equipment. You can use all SmartCards that comply with
the ISO standard 781 6-1, -2 or -3. These SmartCards are available from various manufacturers.
With the appropriate software you can use your SmartCard as an alternative to password protection,
but also as a digital signa ture, for encrypting your e-mails or for home banking.
We recommend that you always use two SmartCards. Always keep one of the SmartCards
in a safe pla ce if you are carrying the other SmartCa rd with you.
In order to be a ble to take a dvan tage of all th e security features of your system, you
will need a CardOS SmartCard from Fujitsu Technology Solutions.
The SmartCard can only be used with a PIN, offering maximum protection even if
you lose the SmartCard . In order to maximise your security, the CardOS SmartCard
is disabled if three incorrect attempts are m ade to enter the PIN.
When you use the CardOS SmartCard for the first time, you will either need to enter the
preset PIN "12345678" or the PIN given to you by your systems administrator.
