Removing passwords
To remove a password (without setting a new password) perform the following steps:
PasswordSupervisorpasswordUserpassword
► Start the BIOS Setup Utility and go to the Security menu.
► Highlight the Set Supervisor Password or Set User Password field and press the Enter key.
Yo u will be requ ested to enter the current password by t he Enter Current Password prompt.
Yo u will be requested to enter a new password by the Enter New Password prompt.
► Press the Enter key twice.
► In the Exit menu, select the option Save Changes & Exit.
► Select Yes and press the Enter key.
The notebook will now reboot with the password removed.
With the supervisor password you simultaneously deactivate the user password.

With the supervisor password that you set in the BIOS Setup Utility (see
section "
Setting the supervisor and user passwords", Page 52), you can
also preve nt booting of the operating system.

► Start the BIOS Setup Utility and go to the Security menu.

► Select the PasswordonBootoption and press the Enter k ey.
► Select the desired option (Disabled, First Boot or Every Boot) and press the Enter key
► Select the Save Changes & Exit option under Exit.
The notebook reboots. You are prompted to enter you r password (the supervisor p assword).
Deactivating system protection
► Start the BIOS Setup Utility and go to the Security menu.
Operatingsystem
► Select the PasswordonBootoption and press the Enter k ey.
► Select the Disabled option and press the Enter key.
If you do not want to change any other settings, you can exit BIOS Setup Utility.
► Select the Save Changes & Exit option under Exit.
The noteboo k will reboot. The system is no longer password-protected.
HDD password pro tection
After a
supervisor password has been set additionally a HDD password can
be set i
ntheHard Disk Security menu.
The ha
rd disk is locked with this password. Data on the locked disk can’t be read in
anoth
er syste m unless the correct HDD password is entered.
