[ REGISTRA TION ]
This function is explained in detail in chapter 8.1.
[ DEREGISTER ]
Use this option to deregister lost or faulty hand-
sets.
[ RESET ]
If you’ve lost the overview with regards to the set-
tings or you’ve lost or forgotten the PIN code, you
may use this option to restore the default factory
settings. Keep in mind that not only the settings
are reset to the default values, also the PIN code
will be 0000 again while the Caller-ID memory and
last dialled number memory will be empty . The
phonebook memory will not be deleted.
[ RECALL TIME ]
Use this option to set the interruption duration of
the R/FLASH pulse to SHORT (100mS), MEDIUM
(270mS) or LONG (600mS).
Refer to the user ’s manual of your home or ofce
switchboard or ask your telephone provider for the
desired recall time.
100mS is the standardised recall time in the Ben-
elux, this time is already set in the factory .
7.3 Clock & Alarm:
1. press the MENU button on the handset
2. use and to scroll to [ CLOCK&ALARM ]
3. use the OK button
4. now use and to select one of the follow-
ing settings and press OK
[ DA TE & TIME ] to set the date and time (the date
and time are transferred to the telephone)
[ SET FORMA T ] to set the time to a 12 hours or
24 hours format and to set the time display to day/
month or month/day (this setting is separate for the
handset)
[ ALARM ] to program an alarm time and to deter-
mine whether the alarm must be activated once or
daily . Y ou may also use this option to set the alarm
melody .
8 MUL TIPLE HANDSETS
8.1 T o register new handsets:
Y ou may link up to a maximum of 4 handsets to
the FX-5555. Register new handsets as follows:
telephone:
1. press and hold the INT button on the tele-
phone for 5 seconds
new handset:
1. open the menu and select the option [ SET-
TINGS ]
2. press the OK button and select the option
[ REGISTRA TION ]
3. press the OK button and use the keypad to
enter the PIN code (the default factory code
0000 or your personal code)
4. press the OK button; the handset will now start
searching for the base
After several seconds, the handset will have
located the base and the right part of the
display will show the handset number
8.2 T o deregister handsets:
Handsets that are lost or no longer function must
be deregistered.
T o do this, select the option [ DEREGISTER ] in
the [ SETTINGS ] menu.

6 CALLER-ID
Provided that your telephone provider supports
Caller-ID, the number of the caller will appear in
the display of your telephone and handset. The
handset will also show the name if this name is
saved in the memory of the handset.
The telephone and handset each have their own
memory for 20 calls. Keep in mind that these
memories must be read and deleted separately .
New call indication:
If you’ve missed a call, the
symbol will be ashing
on the telephone. On the handset the symbol
will be ashing while the text NEW CALL appears.
T o read the memory: (both telephone and handset)
Press the button and use the and buttons
to scroll the memory . If the name of the caller is
programmed in the memory of the handset, the
name will be displayed. If not, only the number is
displayed. The telephone only shows the tele-
phone numbers.
Next to the name or number , the time and date of
the call are also shown in the display .
T o call back: (both telephone and handset)
1. press the button and use the and but-
tons to search for the desired call
2. pick up the receiver or press the button to
dial the selected number again
In case you’ve set a strange language and no
longer know how to restore the English language,
perform the following:
1. press 3x the End button
2. press 1x the MENU button
3. press 1x the button
4. press 1x the OK button
5. press 2x the button
6. press 1x the OK button
7. use the / buttons to select the English
language and press the OK button to conrm
this language
8. press 1x the End button
7.2 System settings:

[ CHANGE PIN ]
Y ou’ll need a PIN code for registering and deregis-
tering additional handsets and for certain settings.
The default factory PIN code is 0000, but you may
use this menu option to change this code into a
personal code.
See the item [ RESET ] if you’ve lost your PIN
code.
7 SETUP
7.1 handset settings:
Open the menu as follows:
1. press the MENU button on the handset
2. use and to scroll to [ HANDSET OPTS ]
3. press the OK button
4. now use and to scroll to the desired set-
ting and press OK
[ HANDSET NAME ]
Y ou can assign an individual name to the handset.
When the handset is set to stand-by , this name
can be shown in the display of the handset.
[ RINGER&TONES ]
Use this option to set the ringtone and call volume
and whether a key tone must be emitted each time
you press one of the buttons.
[ LANGUAGE ]
The various instructions in the display can be
shown in different languages. Use this option to set
the desired language.
