Click on OK. The window closes, and, on the window “Map Product
Information”, you may notice the indication that the Routable Map
Benelux is indeed unlocked.
If you have already installed another Garmin MapSource product on
your computer, you are already familiar with the use of the program. If
not, please refer to the specic user manual for MapSource which you
can downloaded from the site www.garmin.be.
With the digital Routable Topographical Map for Benelux, your PC, or
your routable Garmin GPS, is able to calculate automatically itinerar-
ies. This section will give you the necessary information allowing you to
optimize the calculation capabilities.
The Routable Topographical Map for Benelux has been designed for
pedestrians and cyclists. TAKE CARE: the computation algorithm is not
designed for automotive navigation. For example, the algorithm does
not take into account
the permitted direction of one-way streets and always excludes motor-
ways, even when the entered parameters are selecting them.
As well in MapSource as on the routable GPS units, the itinerary calcu-
lation may be oriented by the choice of the parameters. We will succes-
sively see how on a PC and on a GPS unit.
For the itinerary calculation on a PC, various parameters should be
dened. You select “Edit” on the toolbar, then “Preferences” and “Rout-
ing”; a window appears.
In the section “Route Style”, click on “Use Auto-routing”. As vehicle,
choose “Pedestrian” or “Bicycle”. For Calculation Style, click on “Short-
er Distance”. In the section Try to avoid, you have only the choice to
