The user guide (on-screen menus) for the satellite receiver is displayed on the
picture screen of the TV set.
It enables the dialogue between the user and the receiver.
The receiver will respond to many of the functions selected via the remote control
by displaying info menus and on-screen symbols on the TV screen.
You are guided step by step, simply and comprehensibly, to the next possible
setting.
Common Interface – what is that?
Common Interface (C I) is an interface for digital satellite receivers (also called
SET-TOP boxes).
This interface serves for connecting a CA module (CA = Conditional Access). It
comprises all functions for the reception authority, decoding and access control
of the encrypted satellite channels of various PAY-TV providers.
Using the satellite receiver DTR 6001 S CI in connection with appropriate CA
modules, you may receive and process certain “encrypted” and all “free”
satellite channels.
The satellite receiver is equipped on its front panel with a Common Interface com-
partment which enables you to fit two CA modules of different PAY-TV providers.
Appropriate ”smart cards“ of the providers are inserted into the CA modules to
“release” the access to the desired encryptred satellite channels.
For more information about this function and the points to be observed, please
refer to the pages 48 to 49 of this user manual.
