Installing the car radio
Dear customer…
please let install your car radio by a specialist.
In doing this, you create the basis for a cor-
rect operation of your car radio.
The installation instructions are to be found at
the end of these operating instructions.
Removing the control knob
You can remove the left-hand control knob
ȂȂ
.
This makes the radio worthless for other per-
sons and is signalled by the flashing Security
LED inside the socket of the control knob.
Simply pull off the control knob and take it
along with you.
If you pull off the left-hand control knob
ȂȂ
when the car radio is switched on, this will
automatically be switched off.
Please note
Refitting the control knob
Reinsert the control knob into its socket in the
left side of the radio.
Push it into the car radio until it locks into
place.
If now it should be not possible to switch the
car radio on with the
¡
Ol
button, remove
and refit the control knob again.
To prevent losing the control knob, keep it in
its case supplied and attach it, for example, to
your key ring.
Traffic safety
í Before making a drive
please familiarise yourself with the
various functions of your car radio.
í Sound volume and traffic
Operating your radio at high volume while
driving can endanger you and others.
Therefore, always adjust the volume so
that you can still safely hear outside noi-
ses (e.g., car horns, police and emergen-
cy vehicles, etc.). Set the volume by
means of the left-hand control knob
ȂȂ
.
í Traffic announcements can come through
with a considerably higher volume than
the normal programme. See also page 14,

ß?.
í On multimedia CDs, data tracks are
recorded in addition to the sound tracks.
If you play such a CD despite of the war-
ning message, noise may be generated
in a volume which can endanger traffic.
In addition, the receiver’s output stages
and the loudspeakers may be damaged.
