GETTING STARTED
Preparation
1. Att ach the came ra strap.
2. Open the batte ry/memory card cover .
3. Load the supp lied batter ies with corre ct
orientation as shown.
4. Insert an SD/SDHC memory card (Op tional).
The camera has 16MB internal memo ry
(12MB avail able for i mage stora ge), but you
can load an SD/S DHC memory card to
expand the camera’s memory capacit y .
Be sure to format the memory card wit h this
camera befor e its initial us age.
5. Close the bat tery/memory card cover and
make sure it is locked secure ly .

CAPTURE MODE
Capturing Images
Y ou r camera is equipp ed with a 3.0" ful l color TFT LCD monit or to help you compo se
images, play back recorded ima ges/video c lips or adjust menu set tings.
1. Press the Power button to tu rn the power on.
The status LED lights gree n and the camera is i nitiated.
2. Set the c amera mode t o [ ].
3. Compose your image in the LCD monitor.
Pressing th e button zooms in on the su bject, and e nlarges the sub ject on the
LCD monitor.
Pressing th e button provides a wid er angle image .
4. Press the shutt er button.

automatica lly focuses and adjusts the
exposure, an d pressing the shutter button
down fully capt ures the image s.
The focus area f rame turns blu e when the
camera is in focu s and the expos ure is
calculat ed.
When the focu s or exposure is not suitable ,
the frame of the focus ar ea turns yello w .
Recording Shots using Face Detection Technology
Face Detectio n T echno logy can ide ntify and focu s on the human faces in the i mage.
This advance d function si multaneously de tects up to 5 human faces regar dless of
their posi tion in the sc ene.
1. Set the c amera mode t o [ ].
2. T oggle the [
m
] button until [ ] icon appear s on the LCD monit or .
The white fram e is identifi ed as the “top priority” f ace (main focu s frame), and
gray ones arou nd the other f aces.
3. Press th e shutter bu tton halfway do wn to lock the focus.
The main focu s frame simult aneously tu rns green.
If the “top priority” face is out of foc us, the main focu s frame turns red.
4. Press the shutt er button down fully to captu re your image.

Setting the Scene Mode
By simply se lecting one o f the follo wing 20 modes , you can cap ture the im age with th e
most! appropriate settings.
1. Set the c amera mode t o [ ].
2. Press the SCN/SET button.
3. Selec t the desire d scene
mode with the e / f
buttons, an d press the
SCN/SET butto n.

press the shu tter button.

Portrait Man Select this mo de when you want to capture an ima ge that makes a
man stan d out again st a blurre d backgroun d.
Portrait Lad y S elect this mode wh en you want to cap ture an image tha t makes a
lady stand out ag ainst a blurred background.
l Landscape S elect this mode wh en you want to cap ture an image wit h infinity
focus, har d sharpness and high saturat ion.
l S ports Select this mo de when you want to capture fast- moving subjec ts.

Night Portrait
Select this mo de when you want to capture people with an evenin g
or night sc ene backgrou nd.
h Night Scene Select this mo de when you want to capture dark scenes such as
night views.

VIDEO MODE
Recording Video Clips
This mode al lows you to r ecord video cl ips at a resolu tion of 320 x 240 / 640 x 48 0 pix-
els. V oice can als o be recorded.
1. Set the c amera mode t o [w].
2. Compose the image.
3. Press the shutt er button.
The recording of the video clip will st art.
Pressing t he shutter button on e more tim e will
end the rec ording of t he video c lip.
The recordin g time depends on the storage
size and the s ubject of the i mage to be
recorded.
The zoom functi on cannot be used during
video recordi ng.
Playing Back Video Clips
Y ou can play back rec orded video clips on the camera.
1. Set the c amera mode t o [x].
The last image appears on the screen.
2. Select the de sired video clip with the e / f buttons.
3. Press the SCN/S ET button.
A press of the f / e button s during play back allows fast forward play / fas t
reverse pla y .
T o stop vid eo playback, press the d butt on.
This stops playba ck and return s to the start of th e video clip.
T o pause video pl ayback, pres s the SCN/SET button.
This pau ses video play back.
T o cancel p ause, pre ss the SCN/SET button again.

PLAYBACK MODE
Playing Back Still Images
Y ou can play back th e still images on the LCD monitor.
1. Set the c amera mode t o [x].
The last image appears on the screen.
2. The images c an be dis played in rev erse or
forward sequ ence with the e / f buttons.
T o view the previo us image, press th e e
button.
T o view the next image, pr ess the f button.
Pressing th e!!button enla rges the image .
T o return to normal magn ificatio n, press the
button.
Thumbnail Display
This functi on allows you to vi ew 9 thumbna il images on the LCD mo nitor at the same
time, which can l et you quickly se arch for the image that you want .
1. Set the c amera mode t o [x].
The last image appears on the screen.
2. Press the button.
The images a re displayed in the th umbnail
display .
Images that ha ve been select ed with the e
/ f / c / d bu ttons will be indi cated by a
yellow fra me.
When there are t en or more images , scroll
the screen wi th the c / d buttons.
3. Press the e / f / c / d buttons t o select the image to be displaye d at regular si ze.
4. Press the SCN/S ET button.
The selecte d image is di splayed at its regula r size.
