11.3 Managing Memory
To see how much device memory is available for use
1. Press HOME > MENU, then touch Settings.
2. Scroll down the screen, then touch SD card & phone storage.
The available device memory displays in the Internal phone storage section.
To see the available storage card space
1. Press HOME > MENU, then touch Settings.
2. Scroll down the screen, then touch SD card & phone storage.
The total and available storage card space display in the SD card section.
To free some phone memory
If your device is running low on memory, try the following:
In Browser, clear all temporary Internet files and Browser history information.
See “Browser” in Chapter 7 for more information.
Uninstall downloaded programs you no longer use. See “Android Market” in
Chapter 10 for details.
Reset your device. See “Resetting Your Device” later in this chapter for details.
11.4 Software Updates
Google may send new or updated versions of your device’s operating system
via over-the-air (OTA) updates. When your device receives an OTA update, it will
automatically connect to the Internet using your data connection (3G/GPRS,
or EDGE if available) and will download the software update. Since these OTA
updates can be up to 64 MB in size, your device will use a considerable amount
of bandwidth for which you may be charged with additional connection costs,
especially when you are roaming.
