Clearance requirements

If the appliance has to be located in an opening, the minimum clearance from non-combustible

materials is shown on drawing C.

The stove must be located at least 150 mm from any combustible materials.

A combustible shelf may be ﬁ tted over the appliance, provided that in the case of a 150 mm or

less deep shelf, there is at least 150 mm clearance above the top of the stove. The shelf depth

may increase (drawing C, measurement a) at the same rate as the increase in clearance (drawing

C, measurement b); i.e. a shelf depth of 200 mm would require a clearance of 200 mm

Hearth

The stove must stand on a ﬁ reproof hearth.

To comply with the Building Regulations issued by the Department of the Environment, the fol-

lowing points should be noted when choosing a hearth:

i) the hearth must be made of non-combustible material of thickness 12 mm minimum

ii) the hearth must not be capable of inadvertent covering by a carpet or rug. This should be

achieved by either:

a) the hearth being 50 mm (2”) above the level of the room ﬂ oor

b) a fender or kerb around the edge of the hearth to a height of at least 50 mm (2”) above the

ﬂ oor.

Flue connection

Balanced Flue Connection

The Carmen and Figaro Balanced Flue is approved to be vented to the outside through an

adjacent exterior wall. The venting system must comprise of the speciﬁ ed venting components

listed below.

Carmen gas and Figaro gas are approved to the following two combinations of ﬂ ue components:

The ﬂ ue components listed in the above table have be assembled as shown on drawing D1 and

D2.

To join the ﬂ ue sections, adopt the following. The crimped section of the ﬂ ue should always face

outward or (in the case of a top ﬂ ue stove) vertical.

In applications using the telescopic ﬂ ue, the joints of the ﬂ ue pipe must be sealed before the

ﬂ ue is put into the wall. It is recommended that this seal be made with a high temperature tape,

such as aluminium tape.
