✦ The kettle may only be operated with the base provided with

the appliance.

✦ Never remove the water container from the base (or replace

it) while the appliance is switched on.

✦ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such

materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of su ocation.

✦ Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power

cord as well as any attachment  tted should be checked thoroughly for

any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto

a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord,

it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse

e ects on the operational safety of the appliance.

✦ The appliance must be used only on a heat-resistant, level surface.

✦ Do not operate the appliance below a hanging cupboard or similar

object; there is a risk that escaping steam may be trapped underneath.

✦ The exterior surfaces become hot during use and will remain so for some

time afterwards.

✦ Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to come into contact with

open  ames or any hot surfaces such as hot-plates.

✦ Do not let the power cord hang free, and keep the cord well away from hot

parts of the housing.

✦ Always remove the plug from the wall socket,

- in case of any malfunction,

- after use,

- during cleaning.

✦ No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if

these instructions are not complied with.

Thermal safety cut-out

The preset thermal safety cut-out protects the heating element from

overheating should the appliance be erroneously switched on without any

water, or if the heating element is calci ed. Once the safety cut-out has

switched o the kettle, it must be allowed to cool down su ciently, or must

be descaled before it is switched on again.

Before using for the  rst time

For reasons of hygiene, boil and discard the  rst  lling of water.
