Quick Install
Before installing a newly purchased hard drive in your Iomega device, check the hard drive compatibility list
online at www.iomega.com/support for approved and supported hard drive brands and models.
A hard drive must be installed before proceeding with the following steps if you purchased an ix2-dl, diskless
NAS device.
1. Use the included network cable to connect the drive to your network router.
2. Use the included power cord to plug the StorCenter ix2 into your surge protected power source.
3. The device will power on automatically.
4. From a computer on your network, open a web browser and go to www.myiomega.com to set up your
Iomega StorCenter ix2 on your network.
There are several options for setting up and configuring your StorCenter ix2 from this webpage. You can choose
to install optional software components such as the Iomega Storage Manager for device discovery on your
network. You can also manage your media content with Twonky™ Server, and utilize backup capabilities with
QuickProtect. Other options include setting up an Iomega Personal Cloud, and automatically launching the
device interface to start using your StorCenter ix2 immediately.

Using Your StorCenter ix2
Discovering your device using Storage Manager
Iomega Storage Manager is client software that allows multiple computers to interact with the StorCenter ix2.
Install and run this application on each computer connected to your network to quickly discover the device and
assign drive letters to the device shares for browsing.
NOTE: There are separate versions of The Iomega Storage Manager available on the support website specific
to Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. Check the website for operating system platform compatibility.
Disconnecting the StorCenter ix2
The StorCenter ix2 is designed for constant use on your network. If you need to reboot this device, simply power
the device down using the power switch, and power back up. Your StorCenter ix2 can be discovered within a few
seconds after booting.
CAUTION: To prevent data loss, do not disconnect this device or any connected storage devices during data
transfer.
Backing up your StorCenter ix2
Iomega recommends periodic full device backups and frequent data backups to ensure that your critical data
is always protected. For complete setup instructions and more information on backup strategies, consult the
software help files in your device’s management web interface.

Safety Information
Observe the following guidelines when performing any work on your StorCenter device:
1. Follow all instructions marked on the StorCenter device and in the documentation.
2. Use only the power supply cable provided with the StorCenter device. Always use the appropriate power supply cable for your country.
3. Unplug the StorCenter device before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
4. Do not use the StorCenter device near water. Do not spill liquid on or into the StorCenter device.
5. Do not place the StorCenter device on an unstable surface.
6. Do not place the StorCenter device near or on a radiator or heat register.
7. Make sure the StorCenter device has ample ventilation (at least 6” or 127 mm) in front and behind the StorCenter device.
8. Do not walk on the power cord or allow anything to rest on it.
9. There is a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the
equipment manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to local, state, regional, and federal regulations.
Under any of the following conditions, unplug the Iomega StorCenter from the wall outlet and contact technical support: The power cord or
plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled into the Iomega StorCenter, the Iomega StorCenter does not function properly when the operating
instructions are followed, the Iomega StorCenter was dropped or the cabinet is damaged.
