Th e G4 50 0’s “+1 2 V D C” and “ Grou nd”
con nec tion s a re d esig ne d to acc ept 4 A WG power
w ire . 4 A W G is a minim um pow er wire size f or
thi s amplif ier .
If you are insta lli ng t he G450 0 with other
a mpli f iers a nd w ish to use a s ing le ma in power
wi re, use 4 A W G or larger main powe r wire
( depending on the ov era ll cu rren t demands o f al l
the amplif iers in the system ). This 4 A W G or
larger po wer wi re should termi na te into a
dist ribu tion bl ock mounted as clo se to the
amplif iers as possible and sho u ld conn ect to the
G4500 w ith 4 A W G pow er wire.
Note: Smaller A W G n umbers mean bigger wire
and vice-v ersa ( 1/0 A W G is the largest, 2 A WG is
smalle r , then 4 A W G, then 8 A W G, etc. ).
T o connect the pow er wires to the amplif ier ,
f ir st b ack out t he set sc rew on t he t op of th e
termina l bl ock, using the supp l ied 2.5 mm hex
w rench . St rip 1/2 i nch ( 12 mm) of in su lat ion f rom
the end o f each wire and insert t he bare wi re into
the termina l block, seating it firm ly so that n o
bare wire is exposed. W hile holding the wire in

The grou nd conne ct ion should be made usi ng
t he s ame gau ge w ire as t he p ower c onnec t ion
and should be kept as s hort a s pos sible, w hi le

JL Audio EC S ma ster g round lug (X B-MGLU).
A lter nat ively, a sh eet met a l sc rew or b olt c an be
used with a star washe r.
Any wires ru n through meta l barriers ( such
as f irewall s ), m u st be prot ected wit h a high
qual ity rubber grommet to pr e ve nt da mage to the
insulation of t he wi re. Failure to do so may result
in a da ng erous sho rt cir cuit.
Many vehicles employ sma ll ( 10 A WG -
6 A WG ) w ire to ground t he battery to t he
vehicle chassis a nd to connect the a lternator’ s
pos itive conne ct ion to t he bat ter y. T o pre vent
voltage drops, these w ires should be upgraded
to 4 A WG when insta l ling a mplifier systems
w ith mai n f us e r ati ngs above 60A .
