4. Important information before use
The SUBITO automatic 2-cup esspresso/coffee machine has a revolu-
tionary new operating concept. The heart of this is its revolving cover
and the crank handle with release lever.
For safety reasons, the appliance leaves our factory set to the posi-
tion for drawing off coffee (Fig. 4). In order to turn the cover, the
crank handle must be lifted to the stop position:
The crank handle is used to rotate the cover and to press the coffee
powder that has been put into the machine. It can only be lowered in
the ‘Brewing’ position (Fig. 2). In order to lift or lower the crank han-
dle, the release lever must be pulled out (Figs. 3 and 5).
The cover can only be rotated in a counter-clockwise direction when
the crank handle has been lifted. It has two stop posi tions: ‘Fill coffee’
(Fig. 1) and ‘Brewing’ (Fig. 2). These positions are reached when the
cover is heard to click into the stop as it is rotated and cannot be
turned back in a clockwise direction.
5. Before using the machine for the first time
5.1 Filling the water tank
Please take the following steps when putting the machine into oper-
ation for the first time, when the machine has been left unused for a
longish period of time (i.e. vacation) or if the water tank is totally
empty:
Ⅲ Move the crank handle to the coffee withdrawal position (Fig. 4).
Ⅲ Fill the water tank with fresh tap water and insert the tank care fully
into the machine. Ensure that the tank clicks correctly into position.
Ⅲ Press the operating switch ( ).
Ⅲ Place an appropriate cup under the pivoting nozzle and set the
selection switch to the water function ( ).
Ⅲ Turn on the operating switch and draw off one cup of water ( ).
Now your machine is filling with water.
5.2 Rinsing the machine
Please take the following steps when putting the machine into oper-
ation for the first time or when the machine has been left unused for
a longish period of time (i.e. vacation):
Ⅲ Move the crank handle to the coffee withdrawal position (Fig. 4).
Ⅲ Fill the water tank with fresh tap water and insert the tank care fully
into the machine. Ensure that the tank clicks correctly into position.
Ⅲ Plug the appliance into the mains and operate power switch ( ).
When the heater warning lamp ( ) goes out, the machine is ready
for use.
Ⅲ Set the selector switch to the coffee position ( ) and place an
appropriate vessel under the coffee spout; now turn on the operat-
ing switch ( ).
Ⅲ When approximately two cups have been drawn off, turn off the
operating switch, lift up the crank handle and rotate the cover back
to its basic position i.e. the ‘Fill coffee’ position (Fig. 1).
6. Preparing coffee/espresso
6.1 Filling the water tank
Fill the water tank with fresh tap water (no further than the mark) and
replace it in the machine. Ensure that it clicks home correctly. Now
switch on the power switch ( ). When the heater warning lamp ( )
goes out, the machine is ready for use.
