Maintenanc e
T o get the best per formance of the System, keep your discs
and the mechanism clean.
Handling discs
Remove the disc from its case b y holding it at the edge
while pressing the center hole lightly .
Do not touch the shiny surface of the disc, or bend the
disc.
Put the disc back in its case after use.
Be careful not to scratch the surface of the disc when
placing it back in its case.
Avoid exposur e to direct sunlight, temperature extremes,
and moisture.
T o clean the disc:
Wipe the disc with a soft cloth in a straight line from center
to edge.
Cleaning the System
Stains should be wiped off with a soft cloth. If the System
is heavily stained, wipe it with a cloth soaked in water-
diluted neutral detergent and wrung well , then wipe
clean with a dry cloth.
Since the System ma y deteriorate in quality, become
damaged or get its paint peeled off , be careful about the
following:
DO NOT wipe it har d.
DO NOT wipe it with thinner or benzine .
DO NOT apply an y volatile substances such as
insecticides to it.
DO NOT allo w any rubber or plastic to remain in contact
for a long time.

Notes on the power c ord
When you go away f or an extended period of time,
remove the plug fr om the wall outlet.
When unplugging the System fr om the wall outlet,
always pull the plug, not the po wer cord.
Do not handle the power cor d with wet hands.
Disconnect the power cord bef ore cleaning the System or
moving the System.
Do not alter , twist or pull the power cord , or put anything
heavy on it, which may cause fire, electric shock, or other
accidents.
Av oid moisture, water , dust, and high temperatures

Getting star ted
For better F M reception
Disconnect the supplied FM antenna, and connect to an outdoor F M antenna (not supplied)
using a 75 Ω wire with coaxial type connector (IEC or DIN45325).
T o a wall outlet
FM antenna (supplied): Extend it so that you can obtain the best r eception.
NOTES:
Make sure the antenna conductors do not touch any other t erminals, connecting cords
or the power cor d. Also, keep the antennas awa y from metallic par ts of the System,
connecting cords, and the A C power cord. Otherwise, it could cause poor reception.

General
Po wer does not come on. \ Po wer plug is not inser ted securely . Plug it in securely .
Adjustments or settings are suddenly
canceled before y ou finish.
\ There is a time limit. Start the procedure again.
Unable to operate the System fr om the
remote control .
\ The path between the remote contr ol and the remote sensor on the
System is blocked.
\ The battery is exhausted.
No sound is heard. \ Headphones are connected.
FM radio
Hard to listen to br oadcasts because of
noise.
\ Antenna connection is incorrect or loose.
\ The FM antenna is not pr operly ex tended and positioned.
\ Electrostatic discharge from your body ma y cause noise. If this
happens, turn the Syst em off then on again.
iPod
The iP od does not play, but “IPOD”
appears on the display .
\ The iP od batter y is low or exhausted. Charge the iP od batter y .
Disc/USB
The disc/USB mass storage class device
does not play .
\ The disc is placed upside down. Place the disc with the label side
facing up.
\ The disc is recor ded using “packet writing (UDF file syst em). ” I t cannot
be played.
\ The USB mass storage class device is not connected properly .
“NO SONG” appears on the display . \ MP3/WMA files are not rec orded on the disc or USB mass storage class
device.
ID3 T ag on an MP3 file cannot be shown. \ There are two types of ID3 T ag—V ersion 1 and V ersion 2. This System
can only show ID3 T ag V ersion 1.
Groups and tracks are not pla yed back as
you expect.
\ Playing order is determined when the gr oups and tracks are recorded.
It depends on the writing application.
The disc/USB mass storage class device
sound is discontinuous.
\ The disc is scratched or dirty.
\ MP3/WMA files have not been pr operly recorded onto the USB mass
storage class device.
Sound from the USB mass storage class
device is interrupted.
\ Noise and static electricity may stop the sound. In this case, disconnect
and connect the USB mass storage class device again after turning off
the System.
The disc tray does not open or close. \ The AC pow er cord is not plugged in.
\ Disc ejection is prohibited. “DISC L OCKED ” appears (see “Prohibiting
disc ejection” in “Disc/USB” on page 2).
Recording
Unable to record ont o a USB mass
storage class device.
\ The capacity of the USB mass storage class device is full.
\ The USB mass storage class device is write-protected.
If the System does not work corr ec tly , disconnect the AC power cord from the wall outlet, wait f or a while, then
connect the cord again.
JVC bears no responsibility for any loss of data in USB mass st orage class device or iPod while using this System.

For MP3/WM A playback...
Some MP3/WMA files may not be played back due t o
their recording c onditions.
This System can pla y only discs of ISO 9660 Level 1 or
Level 2.
It is recommended to record each file at a sampling rat e
of 44.1 kHz and at a data transfer rate of 128 kbps.
This System can r ecognize a total of 999 tracks and 99
groups.
This System can sho w the T ag data (version 1).
For pla yback of files on a USB mass storage class device...
Y ou cannot play back files larger than 2 GB.
This System ma y not play back some USB mass storage
class devices and does not support DRM (Digital Rights
