Cartridge Installation
The Micro microfiltration cartridge is for use with the Micro Water Bottle Microfilter.
Each replaceable Micro Replacement Cartridge will treat up to 100 liters (26 gallons) of
water.
Changing the Micro Microfiltration Cartridge
After 100 liters (26 gallons) or when bottle is hard to squeeze, use the following steps to
change the Micro Microfiltration Cartridge:
1. Remove the Cartridge/Bottle Cap from the bottle.
2. Remove the carbon filter and microfiltration cartridge from the cap. Discard cartridge
components in trash receptacle.
3. Assemble the Cartridge (see step 2 of product set-up on page 4).
4. Flush system (see step 3 of product set-up on page 4).
Cleaning And Storage
Wash and dry the inside of the Micro bottle thoroughly before using and regularly
during heavy periods of use. If using with safe water and without the Micro cartridge, the
bottle must be completely disinfected to prevent contamination from previous contact with
contaminated water. Your Micro bottle and cap are dishwasher safe (without the cartridge).
Do NOT use soap to clean the Micro cartridge or the Carbon Filter.
For Long Term Storage (After Your Trip Is Over)
Disinfect the Micro to prevent microbiological growth within the bottle.
1. Fill bottle to fill line with tap water and add 1 tablespoon ordinary household bleach.
2. Install bottle cap/cartridge system.
3. Squeeze entire amount of solution through cartridge system.
4. Remove cartridge and disassemble. Shake out excess water from each cartridge. Allow
to dry thoroughly.
5. Wash and dry bottle. Store with cap on (without cartridges installed).
Do NOT allow the Micro cartridge to freeze with water in the cartridge.
Do NOT use with carbonated beverages or flavored beverages, as they may damage the
microfiltration cartridge

Your Katadyn Micro is warranted for one (1) year from the date of purchase against defects
in materials and workmanship. Should your Katadyn Micro prove defective with one year
from the date of purchase, return it to the Katadyn retailer from whom it was purchased. If
you do not receive a satisfactory resolution, contact Katadyn Customer Relations at 1-800-
755-6701 for service assistance. Katadyn, at it's discretion, will replace or repair the dam-
aged item. Please retain purchase receipt as proof of date purchased. This warranty gives
you specific legal rights and you may have other legal rights which vary from state to state.

more serious illnesses caused by protozoan cysts (i.e., Giardia, Cryptosporidium), viruses
and bacteria.
The microorganisms that cause these diseases are often found in the food and water you
consume. Lakes, streams and the local water supply may be contaminated.
To minimize the risk of contracting these illnesses, we suggest that you consult with your
physician, state health department or travelers’ clinic 4-6 weeks before you depart.
And while you are traveling…
• Make sure that prepared food is thoroughly cooked.
• Select non-cooked foods (fruits, nuts, etc.) that have intact shells or skins,
and clean your hands before peeling the food.
• Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly and often, especially
before you eat. Filter all drinking water with your Katadyn Micro Water Bottle
Microfilter.
Caution: If there is any risk of viruses in the water, use an Exstream purifier bottle or add
an EPA registered disinfectant such as Micropur, or boil your water.
Virus Removal
The Katadyn Micro removes bacteria and cysts like Giardia and Cryptosporidium. If virus
elimination is required, use the ViruStat® microbial purification cartridge system (sold sep-
arately) or an EPA registered disinfectant such as Micropur.
