a) Requirements for the antenna support
• Only use masts or supports specially suited to be used as
antenna support. Other supports often do not have the
necessary strength required for the environmental
conditions.
• Choose a mast that has a diameter of 38-60 mm and a
wall thickness of at least 2 mm.
• Install the antenna according to the instructions given
here. When mounting takes place on the roof, see to it that
at least one sixth of the total length of the mast is clamped
and that the admis. bending moment is not exceeded.
• Therefore, we recommend to mount the antenna on the
lower part of the mast. This is particularly important if other
antennas are already fi tted to the mast. If you are in doubt
regarding the admis. bending moment, make a calculation
according to EN 0855-1 or ask a specialist to do it for you.
Fig. C shows an installation as described in EN 0855-1.
• Make sure that the mast is in a vertical position, otherwise
the alignment of the antenna to the satellite can create
problems.
b) Setting the polarisation
Satellite signals are transmitted in a defi nite direction sense,
which means they are ”polarised“. The fl at antenna BAS 62
has been developed for reception of linear (horizontal and
vertical) polarised signals.
In order to guarantee optimum reception, it may be neces-
sary to re-adjust the polarisation relative to the geographic
location of the installation site. If the ”0“ setting has to be
re-adjusted or not can be gathered from the table on the
next page. If re-adjustment is necessary, set the polarisation
before you mount the antenna. See Fig. D.
1. Loosen the four Allen screws by means of the Allen key
supplied with the antenna.
2. Then rotate the antenna support as many degrees as re-
quired. Observing the direction sense +/-.
3. Tighten the four screws somewhat by taking the short shank
of the key into your hand.
4. Then screw tight (by taking the longer shank of the key into
your hand) effecting a 1/4 or 1/2 turn. This corresponds to a
torque moment of 6-7 Nm.
