Changing the Name of Files Stored in the Built-in
Memory
The file name of the settings data that is stored on the transceiver
can be changed by the user to ease identification.
1 Press [MENU].
2 Press F [USB/FILE] to display the USB/File
Management menu screen.
•
If F [USB/FILE] is not displayed, press F [MORE] to display
F [USB/FILE].

Press F2 [ ]/ F3 [ ] to select “Read
Configuration Data”.
4 Press F4 [SELECT] to display the screen for
selecting the file (DATA) to read.

5 Press F5 [NAME].
The file name edit screen is displayed.
6 Use the function keys and the [MULTI/CH] control
to edit the file name.
•
Enter a name that contains not more than 255 characters.

F1 [SPACE] Inserts a space.
F2 [–]/ F3 [+] Selects a character.
F4 [ ]/ F5
[ ]
Moves the cursor.
F [BACK SPACE] Deletes the character to the left of the cursor.
F [DEL] Deletes the character to the right of the cursor.
F [CHAR]
Switches the type of character to edit. Pressing
the key each time switches the selection in the
following sequence:
ABC (upper case) → abc (lower case) → !”#
(symbols) → ABC (upper case)
7 Press F6 [SAVE] to save the file name.

Pressing F7 [CANCEL] discards the edited information and
returns the display to the USB/File Management menu
screen.
8 Press [ESC] to end the process.
Copying Files to a PC
Files that are stored in the built-in memory of this transceiver can
be copied to a PC.
•
Connect the USB-B connector on the rear panel of this
transceiver to a PC using a commercially available USB cable.

1 Press [MENU].
2 Press F [USB/FILE] to display the USB/File
Management menu screen.
•
If F [USB/FILE] is not displayed, press F [MORE] to display
F [USB/FILE].

Press F2 [ ]/ F3 [ ] to select “Copy Files to PC
(via USB Cable)”.
4 Press F4 [SELECT].
A screen for selecting the files to copy is displayed.

Press F2 [ ]/ F3 [ ] or turn the [MULTI/CH]
control to select the items to copy.

Press F5 [ ] to select the checkbox to the left
of the settings data name.
•
Pressing F5 [ ] again deselects the checkbox. (Files
are not copied.)
•
Pressing F6 [CLR.ALL] deselects all the checkboxes.
•
Select at least 1 item to copy from the following.

A screen indicating “preparing to copy” is displayed. A
“confirmation tone” is output once the copy preparation is
completed and a “PC on copy standby screen” is displayed.
Then, a removable device with the name “TS-890” appears on
the PC.
